Roundhay Park, Leeds

(1,700+ reviews on the web)
Nature / Park
One of the largest city parks in all of Europe, Roundhay Park is a collection of woodland, lakes, and landscaped grounds. Bring a picnic in the good weather months, or hike through the woodland and enjoy the local plant and animal life. Inside the Canal Gardens are a group of greenhouses, each protecting plants from different climates. Enter Tropical World inside the Coronation House to discover one of the largest collections of tropical flora in the United Kingdom. Inside, butterflies and aquariums fill the rooms with color. On your way to the "Tropical World" entrance, you'll pass through a rose garden that was once a vegetable garden for the mansion. Be sure to check out Monet's Garden, where you may recognize the garden path at Giverny from his 1902 painting of the same name. • Magnificent civic amenity with woodland, flower beds, lakes, and grass for picnics. Sadly used as something of a public dog toilet by many. Step carefully.  more »

  • Have grown up around here. My old school braimwood was situated not far from the lake. I was 9 then and now I walk around with my wife & the dog at the age of 47. I have never got sick of seeing this place and it changes all year round.
  • One of the finest public parks in Europe. 750 acres of rolling parkland with two lakes and an amazing tree landscape. Superb cafe overlooks the largest lake where fishing is permitted and the imposing mansion contains a restaurant, museum and bars. Adjoining are specialist gardens, tropical house, tennis courts and golf course.
  • Beautiful setting, great for a leisurely walk with friends and family. Underutilised in my opinion, could provide better and more creative facilities
  • Nice park, plenty of room for all sorts of activities to take place simultaneously. One of the best grasstrack velodromes I have seen.
  • A very nice park ... only good people comes there ... i have never seen anyfights or any miss behaves ... everyone mind there own business which i love ...
