Roundhay Park, Leeds

4.7
#1 of 14 in Parks in Leeds
One of the largest city parks in all of Europe, Roundhay Park is a collection of woodland, lakes, and landscaped grounds. Bring a picnic in the good weather months, or hike through the woodland and enjoy the local plant and animal life. Inside the Canal Gardens are a group of greenhouses, each protecting plants from different climates. Enter Tropical World inside the Coronation House to discover one of the largest collections of tropical flora in the United Kingdom. Inside, butterflies and aquariums fill the rooms with color. On your way to the "Tropical World" entrance, you'll pass through a rose garden that was once a vegetable garden for the mansion. Be sure to check out Monet's Garden, where you may recognize the garden path at Giverny from his 1902 painting of the same name. • Roundhay is one of my favourite parks in Leeds. Two parks with car parks at the bottom and the top is how I would describe them. Top park is more for my 7 year old, bottom park more for my 2 year old. Skate Park at the top. Has a beautiful lake which has a path all the way round! Vast amounts of space for picnics. Ice Cream Vans as standard
  • This place is fantastic; there's so much space to walk around/sit/explore, there's hills, paths, lots of beautiful variations of plant and tree life, lakes, fores wooded areas, bandstand, a ruin, parks to play on, sport ground etc. It's a really peaceful and open space to be. Great place to take a dog, friends and family. It takes a good hour or two to walk around it all, longer to appreciate it properly. It's also ideal for running. On site also is a restaurant and a cafe. It's very close to butterfly world also! Literally over the road. Parking is in plenty too and for free! To say this is in suburban Leeds is wonderful; a piece of open space and nature right on your door step. Would highly recommend to anyone who has not been!
  • I love it here.. A tremendous place to go and relax or have fun, maybe even get active/fit. There's something for everyone here ranging from adults to children with the parks and exercise equipment. The cafe at the lakeside is very expensive.. Numerous events throughout the year also. It does tend to get busy on nice days
  • I love this park. It's huge so always nice for a wander. Both playgrounds get very busy when the weather is nice, as do the toilets and the cafe. There is now a train that runs from one end of the park to the other so you can walk one way and ride back if you wish. It has a lovely lake to walk around, though it gets very muddy and slushy when wet. There are always ice cream vans out when the weather is half decent.
  • What's not to like? Easily accessible by car or bus. Large open fields. Not one, but two lakes. Landscaped gardens. Acres of woodland. Two playgrounds for the kids, caf├ęs, restaurants and pubs within or on the boundary of the park..... All this, open all year round, with no entrance fee!!
