Leeds Kirkgate Market is a market in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England located on Vicar Lane. It is the largest covered market in Europe. There are currently 800 stalls which attract over 100,000 visitors a weekLocationThe markets are situated with their front facing onto Vicar Lane and the southern face onto Kirkgate. To the east is Leeds City bus station, while to the north is an open car park, which will become part of the Eastgate Quarters, should that development take place. To the south of the open market is the markets multi-storey car park operated by National Car Parks (NCP). From across Vicar Lane, the markets are connected to Briggate via the Victoria Quarter.AccessLocal and regional buses heading out of the city centre, as well as long-distance National Express coaches, stop at Leeds City bus station, to the rear of the complex. First Leeds buses stop at various points on the bus-box of which Vicar Lane is a part. The Vicar Lane and Markets car park are situated close-by. The formerly proposed Leeds Supertram and Leeds Trolleybus schemes included a stop to serve both the markets and the bus station, however neither scheme succeeded in securing central government funding.

  • Very good range of shops and cafes. You will definitely find a bargain if you're patient enough to look. The outdoor market at the back, beside the bus station is also a must visit!  more »
  • The sellers offer a wide range of stuff, starting from fruits and vegetables, ending with jewelry. The priced range is varying with product. The place itself is very interesting and looks "vintage".  more »
  • Went here today with my wife and her mum in a wheelchair. We were lucky to find a disabled parking space nearby. Lots fruit and veg stalls, plenty of butchers and fish mongers, lots of other stalls se...  more »

  • We love shopping at the market! Great fresh products. Fish, meat, vegetables and fruits at a much better rice than supermarkets and better quality. Plus the atmosphere is brilliant. It's a shopping experience! Wish we could go every week.
  • Great indoor market, lots of stalls from meats and fish, veg, haberdashery, clothes and gadgets.. Pretty much anything you want. There are lots of choices for food especially in the fairly recently cleared hall they now use for events (sad so many stalls were lost to make space).
  • Awesome old fashioned market. Good value on meat and fish very fresh vegetables. A good selection of other products too. Good assortment of food stalls from all over the world
  • Worth doing seafood, poultry & vegetable shopping. Bargaining skills is not essential as prices are good enough. If parking, make sure to park in NCP next to it and have your receipts validated after shopping to have a discounted parking.
  • Fantastic variety of stalls/shops.Great fish .Meat & veg market. Cafes, food places to eat. Everything you need from a ball of wool or new rug to a new dress or bunch of flowers. The market has been revamped .There is both an indoor & out door market with lots of choice & bargins. ... definitely worth a visit.
