Leeds Corn Exchange, Leeds

Landmark Tourist Spot
Go shopping in one of Britain’s finest Victorian buildings. Leeds Corn Exchange is one of just three corn exchanges left in the UK, operating in its traditional capacity as a center for trade (although no longer in corn). Visit the many independent shops, which sell clothes, jewelry, books, guitars, housewares, cameras, and more. Stop for a bite to eat in the Primos Restaurant or Vanilla One coffee shop. The exchange hosts special events throughout the year, such as live music and vintage fairs. Check the website to see if any of these coincide with your visit. Put Leeds Corn Exchange into our Leeds vacation route planner to see other points of interest to visit during your vacation in Leeds.

  • A good place to visit. The architecture is amazing - two circle floors with shops and cafes. Ground floor usually has table tennis. Sometimes art exhibitions are held there.
  • Lovely iconic location in the heart of Leeds, near to Kirkgate market. Full of hairdressers and small boutique shops. Feels hard to get excited by any shops here and we only stayed a few minutes.
  • A beautiful building with great history now being used to house local, independent retailers. This is a must-visit when in Leeds. Lots of cool shops with something for everyone such as vintage cameras, handmade jewellery, souvenirs of Yorkshire, vintage clothing, and much more. Also the coffee cart on the ground floor serves the best flat whites!
  • Really nice building to visit with historical importance. Unfortunately the retail offer is quite poor. Still worth a visit though.
  • The Leeds Corn Exchange is a stunning Grade I listed building, which has been a magnet for visitors for more than 150 years. It opened in 1863 as a bustling centre for the sale of corn, wheat, barley, hops, cake and flour. Today, the Corn Exchange is once again a thriving retail hub, with around 30 independent retailers trading under its spectacular domed roof.
