Newbold Comyn is a park that is found on the eastern edge of Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, England. It is described by some people as a country park in all but name.HistoryThe first mention of Newbold Comyn in history was in the Domesday Book when it was mentioned that one of the two mills of Leamington were situated there. In 1539 two men, Richard Willes and William Morcote jointly purchased the land that was now a farm. When Richard Willes died in 1564 his son inherited the whole estate as Richard had married Morcote's daughter. At the end of the 18th century the Revd. Edward Willes built a new house on the estate in addition to the existing farm house. The Revd. Edward Willes died in 1820, and his son, also Edward, began to sell parts of the estate for building in 1823 as Leamington grew into a Spa town. In all the Willes family held Newbold Comyn for over 400 years, until they sold most of the remaining estate to Leamington Corporation after the end of the Second World War. The Willes family moved to Honington in South Warwickshire, and sold the mansion house to a subsidiary of AC Lloyd (Builders) in 1964. The main house, which stood where now the junction of Newbold Terrace East and Fernhill Drive is, was demolished in 1965, leaving only the farm and outbuildings. During the Second World War the Luftwaffe dumped two bombs on the park whilst returning to base from Coventry. The craters can still be seen. The Corporation laid out the leisure park in the 1970s and the land usage has remained the same ever since although it is now run by Warwick District Council. There used to be an old steam engine on which young people could climb and play, but this had to be removed due to health and safety regulations.Put Newbold Comyn and other Leamington Spa attractions into our Leamington Spa holiday planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

Love this place - we're always greeted, service is sharp and personable, warm and friendly. I just love the relaxed and non pretentious vibe here. The outdoor areas are perfect, with plenty of seating and green surroundings. The food here is bloody tasty, and served in generous portions. Cajun chicken burger is so good, and the chips are some of the best I've had...... Ever. Their homemade sausages, and mash dish - wow! Gladly recommend this gem
Me and my wife visited the Newbold Comyn Arms tonight for a meal. We had booked a table however we didn't need to because it was a quiet night and we had a choice where to sit so we sat next to the log burner fire which was very cosy. We ordered some nachos to start which were very nice, for main course I ordered a Cajun chicken burger and my wife ordered a beef burger, when the meal arrived I noticed the burgers were not made with a brioche bun as stated on the menu so I mentioned it to the waiter and he explained the wrong rolls had been delivered, we should have been told this when we ordered but never mind. The food was fantastic though, both of our burgers were absolutely gorgeous and the chips were amazing, I would say they are the best chips I have had in a very long time. I also noticed on the menu that the meat is sourced from 'The meat room' in Leamington spa which is where we get our meat from for at home, no wonder the burgers were so tasty! I am only giving 4 stars because of the bun situation, if we would of had exactly what was stated on the menu or if we would have been told about the wrong bun then I would have given 5 stars. We will definitely be returning again!
We went for a play in the snow with the dog and kids yesterday, then to The Newbold Comyn Arms for thawing in front of the fire and some well earnt, tasty lunch. I had lamb koftas to start, which were absolutely glorious. Big choice of Real Ale, the staff know their stuff on beer! Big mugs of hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows for the little stinkers. Perfect day 🐾
Good for a drink or meal after you've been for a walk over the park.
