  • At first glance a lot of sorry owls, eagles, vultures in cages but then the show and tell put this in perspective. The birds are all from zoos not wild and the owner is a fanatic lover of these animal...  read more »
  • It was a nice experience for me and my family. It is a very small area which is well maintained. The flying sessions was very good.
  • Great day out, approachable staff, you can come and go all day and view multiple displays
  • My girlfriend loves owls, so as a surprise Christmas present I bought her the "Simply Owls" experience at Gauntlet. We arrived at the centre just before 12 noon and watched the vultures being fed whilst a handler talked about the animals before us. At 12.30 we took our seats to watch a flying display where the owner of Gauntlet talked about the birds and had them fly and walk around us, skimming our heads, and his enthusiasm for the birds was contagious. At 1PM we went on the owl experience and spent a whole two hours with one of the handlers, and my girlfriend had the time of her life meeting the birds, holding them, and having them fly to her glove, from tiny owls to much larger ones by the end of the session. Once this was finished we watched a second spectacular flying display where the sky was full of eagles, vultures, kestrels, kites, storks, and enormous marabou storks, then had another walk around the site before heading for home over four hours after we had arrived. Gauntlet is a fabulous place and the staff there are all wonderful and clearly love the birds, and it appears that the birds love them too. Although our visit was for an "experience" we'll be returning in the not too distant future to have a look around again and watch the shows, and who knows we might even book another experience or two. Other info: Lots of parking available at the front. Refreshments available. Accessible to pushchairs and disabled visitors. Group bookings and parties welcome. Souvenir shop. Toilets on site. Childrens play area currently being built alongside the site.
  • A fantastic day out. Staff always friendly, happy to help and knowledgeable. As a keen photographer I enjoy the opportunity to capture birds of prey at close quarters. Thank you, Adrian
  • Excellent for both young and old, recommend
