Engaging, well structured talk as the tour party moved through different parts of the building (about 1.5 hours) which made me realise just how little I know about space! Accessible to a layman and fa...  more »

We turned up about half an hour before the next tour and considered driving away. I'm glad we didn't, despite being informed that the tour may not suit our younger two children, they all enjoyed it an...  more »

Went here with an 8 year old - we went away both of us impressed. Firstly, a visitor needs to be aware of a few things; 1) There are tours at certain times....check before going. 2) The location is (n...  more »
  • I highly recommend a visit here!! We arrived in time for the 2pm tour and were treated to a great talk by Jay that takes you from how stars are formed to how our own solar system came about and the dangers to our planet from being hit by some of the remaining debris that exists as asteroids and comets. You get to see samples of space rock that have been recovered from impact sites, there is a small planetarium too and the tour includes a visit up into the dome where the telescopes are housed. What is amazing is that The Spaceguard centre is operated and funded by volunteers and donations and every clear night they are carrying out valuable work in making observations to help protect the earth from a potentially catastrophic impact. Well worth a visit!!!!
  • What an amazing place!! A one to one tutorial from a true expert on asteroids and the solar system, some fantastic equipment and facilities to see, and all funded by donations, visitors and volunteers. Really friendly welcome and an unforgettable experience. Just sorry that we live in Norfolk and can't get more involved with this inspiring project
  • Well worth a visit. Luckily we booked before spotting the 2 previous poor Google ratings whilst checking directions! Very well presented tour and introduction to the art and science of tracking near earth objects given by one of the the centre's directors Jonathan Tate. Fascinating for kids and adults and all knowlege levels. Will recomend to friends and happy to return.
