  • Interesting history and great ruined palace with more to explore than looks from the outside. Kids will enjoy going up and down the stairs and exploring the nooks and crannies. Adults should enjoy the...  more »
  • Earl's palace is a ruined castle, kept better than others, but as there are a lot of them in Scotland. The visit is free of charge (joint ticket with the neighbouring bishop palace), but there's no furniture or other antique vestiges, nor audio guide of explanation. You can go on all floors, and each room is placed a billboard of explanation. Cute.

  • The earls Palace and the Bishops Palace are just across the road from one another. Both are ruins but with history

  • The Earl's Palace dates back to the 1600's, built on/around the Bishop's Palace from the 1100's. Very interesting glimpse into how they lived in these 2 different periods. There's an entry fee (for the Earl's and Bishop's Palace together), but it's included in the Orkney Explorer pass (worth taking if you plan to visit at least 2-3 sites during your stay -- which you should!).
  • If you are into history an interesting place
  • This is a lovely ruin, there are many rooms to explore and the grounds are lovely. The price is a little high.
  • Really interesting a bit pricey
