  • An interesting place to walk around with good information boards. Stone looks great in warm sunlight.
  • Beautiful ruins of an old mansion/Castle next to St Magnus Cathedral in the Centre of Kirkwall. Recommended 20-30 min. Walk on sunny days. Next to the Bishop's palace

  • The Earl's Palace dates back to the 1600's, built on/around the Bishop's Palace from the 1100's. Very interesting glimpse into how they lived in these 2 different periods. There's an entry fee (for the Earl's and Bishop's Palace together), but it's included in the Orkney Explorer pass (worth taking if you plan to visit at least 2-3 sites during your stay -- which you should!).
  • If you are into history an interesting place
  • This is a lovely ruin, there are many rooms to explore and the grounds are lovely. The price is a little high.
  • Really interesting a bit pricey
