  • Well just booked weekend again at kielder for fishing and to have a burger and pint in restaurant there delicious can't wait for march
  • We visited the castle area, Minotaur maze and the viaduct and lake. Walking routes were fairly good with the buggy, wet January did make it a little hard going in some areas! Only negatives were that ...  more »

  • Great for dog walking - contains a nice cafe by the car park, and a huge range of marked walking routes through a scenic forest. Everything is well maintained, and the routes are generally clear. However it is a working forest, and we got a bit lost on a diversion due to our route being closed while foresting work was done, so be aware that diversions are likely. That may have just been our lack of sense of direction though, so despite a bit of getting lost, it's a 4.5/5 from me.
  • Amazing Lake, unspoilt countryside, fishing, boating, multiple cycle routes, castle with tea room and you can even watch the Ospreys nesting via CCTV from the Cafe. One of the few designated dark skies areas with observatory open at nights probably the best place in England to see the night sky. This really is one of the most beautiful spots in England. If you have not been to Kielder then get it on your bucket list as you are missing a treat
  • Beautiful place for a day out. Lovely scenery, amazing surroundings, serene beauty. PS: Do not take Forest Drive path. Only suitable for 4x4. 6 miles of complete uneven unmade road with all stones and chips up on. couldn't drive more than 15mph. worst drive ever. When using google maps, use option 2 ("Kielder castle Forest park Centre") instead of option1 ("Kielder Forest Park"). I have put up request to update the map.
  • Amazing when you realise it is all man made, and from the reservoir to the forest it has all been planned!
  • Beautiful lodges however midge infested with no warning on hoseasons website, would of coped but midges were getting in the lodge with doors and windows shut, bedding covered in midges, used spray but no difference. They got in cooker vent through window seals, kitchen covered in them minutes after removing them, food was covered in midges. No matter what we did they got in. Covered in bites. Booked 7 nights left after 1, was told not much they could do but offer to clean the cabin, said it would make no difference as they were getting in with everything closed. Worst experience ever. Totally gutted. You'd expect the accommodation to have measures in place such as a bug zapper so you could at least eat and sleep. Had less issues in a tent with midges getting in!!!!!
