  • Stunning house and gardens, rarely open but worth the effort. The guided tours are highly recommend.
  • Massive house in pretty spectacular grounds
  • Worst country house experience I have had. The house is full of treasures which you will not get to see. You are lectured incessantly about the family tree, of which you will remember zero after the first 10 mins, an endless list of who married who, etc, room by room. You are not allowed to stop and look at anything, and are rushed out of the room by the second guide who is there just to get you out immediately as soon as the lecture has stopped. The exterior of the house is impressive, less so when you see the 6 small plastic pots placed across the main entrance, along with a few terrible plastic chairs. Clearly don't see the need to spend any money to make the approach inviting. You get the feeling that as a paying guest you are more a necessary evil than a welcome visitor. Guides and room attendants less than friendly. The cafe is like sitting in a sauna, their idea of a interesting display in the stables is a collection of old Hoovers. One of the few houses in this country that I had not been to, would never go back again. Waste of time and money.
  • Nice normal country house
  • Fantastic House and Guides are most knowledgeable. We have visited 3 times now and our long journey was worth every mile travelled. We most certainly will visit again. It is great that such a beautiful House is shared with the public. It makes you feel proud to be British. A BIG thank you to ALL involved with Boughton! See you soon!
