  • Lovely walk up to the castle although a bit muddy in places. Great area to walk our dog and interesting place to visit  more »
  • As I live below the castle, I venture up here quite often, whether on my nightly jogs or throughout the day to take photographs. The walk up is steep for a short while, and can be very muddy and slipp...  more »
  • I visited the Castle last week and really enjoyed the picturesque views from the top. I travelled up following the signs from a bridge, along a small park and passed a graveyard... This route was okay...  more »

  • It's a bit of a climb to get here but well worth it. Ruined castle where kids' imagination can run riot and some useful and informative history boards for the rest of us. Plenty of space for a picnic. Great views over Kendal. No charges. When we were there on a weekday in mid October, we saw some free street parking at the bottom of the hill.
  • Most amazing place I have ever been to. This cattle changed my life. It felt like a dream. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I really recommend it! ❤️
  • Great views with options for difficult or easy walks up. Free parking. Great tourist and locals area
  • Very nice place best scenic view all round,as long as you get the right weather
  • A ruined castle looking out over the Cumbrian town of Kendal. A steep walk brings you to the castle although there is no easy access for less able visitors. Entry is free and there are several information boards around the grounds. A great place to go for a walk whilst in Kendal to enjoy the views of the surounding fells. As a free attraction it is hard to beat!
