  • By the time we made it to Smailholm Tower, it was already closed, but we did get to walk around the 16th century exterior and see the nearby scenery. It's an interesting tower, and worth visiting if you happen to be in the area (e.g., as part of a visit to the nearby Border Abbeys, such as Melrose or Kelso).
