  • Friendly knowledgable host and distiller. I loved the "old school" blend he had. There is a beautiful beachy inlet to walk around just outside the parking lot
  • We have visited a number of large distilleries recently so Abhainn Dearg was an interesting change. Great to see small distillery operations and business. They are also very environmentally conscious ...  more »

  • Most authentic distillery experience you are ever likely to get...if you are on Lewis...just go.
  • I and my wife have visited this distillery on a rainy and cold summer day on 9 July 2016. Because this distillery not the appearance of a Scottish distillery with its typical pagodadaken, we thought at first that we were wrong, but a friendly man beckoned us. His wife then gave us quick tour got in this mini-distillery. If whisky collector I have two bottles of this young malt purchased, not for its quality, but as gadget. The price is too high for its quality, but this will be dictated by the rarity. The malt has its minimum bearing behind the back, which is too short to be a good malt. The taste makes me more reminiscent of a Luxembourg eau-de-vie. You should of course start somewhere, making it understandable. I am curious to know how the tasting of a version that is going to be a longer maturation. Interesting is also the Hill after the distillery to drive until the road ends. A beautiful sightseeing in the wild nature is waiting for you.

  • July 2015: I visited the really quite lonely, Abhainn Dearg distillery. Very nice staff and me was explains everything very nice and detailed. Currently, is still being modified and expanded. It is worth to visit this smallest Distellery of Scotland. You should maintain 2018 also the 10-year-old whisky. Visit the Museum in the middle of the Uig. Here, the chessmen (pawns of the Vikings) have been found. Very interesting and worthwhile.
