  • Producing only 3 years, we tried samples of bottle (40% alcohol) and cask strength (56% alcohol) product. One can see everything in less than half an hour in this small scale distillery. It was put to...  more »
  • What a great place to visit, if you've ever been to a commercial distillery this is the opposite. They don't ship their peated barley in. They make it themselves on a traditional floor. Great tour and...  more »
  • I have done the usual tours of big distilleries in the past and this time didn't want to go to Talisker with a bus load of tourists. Found this tiny one and was keen to visit. This reminded me of the ...  more »

  • While the setting and tasting were nice, the rest of the tour we did was terrible. Almost no real information apart from what you can read in a travel guide and very short. Definitely not worth the 5 pounds. The staff was very friendly and helpful + the whiskey is good, though.
  • The reason I like this place, besides that it makes Whisky (not whiskey 😜) is that when you visit you will see the rough and ready of making the water of life. No snazzy visitors centre, although it is very comfortable. You will walk through puddles between buildings and if you are in a big group you will feel crammed in the barrel store. This adds to the charm. This is best visited as a personal experience as the guide will talk to YOU, although I would imagine a larger group will benefit just as well. Amazing place, amazing setting!!! And a couple of drams at the end 👍🥃
  • Very authentic distillery tour. Looking forward to the 10 year old!
  • This distillery is a must see! Rough diamond of a place...as original as it gets!! Whiskey is a tad coarse...looking forward to trying the 10 yr old!
  • Awesome - best distillery tour I have ever had; Laura was very informative and the tasting was awesome - thank you. Glad we made the effort to visit you from the Orkneys! It was a pleasure to meet Marko whose brilliance to identify the business opportunity and determination to make it happen are inspiring. You deserve the admiration and support of the islanders

Where to stay in Isle of Lewis

The island's largest town, Stornoway provides an abundance of inns and bed and breakfasts by its small harbor. Stornoway's proximity to the island's airport also makes it a good base for sightseeing. A selection of private vacation rentals lines the island's west coast, but you can also choose to stay on the scenic nearby island of Great Bernera.
