Blists Hill Victorian Town, Ironbridge

Quaint cottages, red-brick buildings, and rustic farmhouses are dotted throughout Blists Hill Victorian Town, an open-air museum recreating the conditions and lifestyle of a Victorian-era Shropshire town. Founded in 1973, the museum employs actors and tradespeople to staff the town's shops and to demonstrate trades that would have been prominent during that era. • A step back in time. Great staff playing the part in costume. The candle maker is fab, very interesting and educational. The lady in the store that sells the old wooden toys and the measuring scales is lovely. All the staff in the stores will gladly help you with the old money conversion and we can't forget the lovely lady who works in Lloyd's Bank. The fish and chip shop is really good. There's just too much to mention about what you can do and see and if you love steam engines then this is the place for you too. Take your phone or your camera to record some great memories. I could go on but I think you should go and find out for yourself!! Oh, I forgot to say that the pork scratchings are yummy!!
  • Go back in time. A fantastic experience for young and old. Going back to Victorian times and see how people lived. The staff are dressed in costume and are very knowledgeable. The fish and chips are delicious washed down with a pint of cloudy cider. A great day out. Wheelchair and pushchair accessible.
  • Great day out. Staff are really friendly and knowledgeable. The talks are interesting. A great little touch is at the start you can change money up to old style money and use in the shops or keep as souvenirs. This was great for all the family. The sweet shop is a must stop for everyone. We purchased the passport so we could return here and visit the other museums connected with the sight. Also parking available on site at the cost of £3. This also covers all but 2 of the other museums car parks for the day.
  • Need to allow at least the whole day just for this attraction to see it all. It is a great way to teach adults and children what it was like in the past. The staff are very informed and take pride in telling you about what the equipment is used for explaining how it all works and why. The sweetshop is wonderfully stocked with sweets from my childhood. You can pay with coins exchanged at their bank for village minted pre decimal coins or normal currency. Pavilion cafe is bright and lots of room with extra seating outside. Full cooked lunches available as well as snacks and drinks. There's a wheelchair accessible tram lift for those not willing to walk back up the steep hill, though the canal path is a bit bumpy in places at the other end. Not fully wheelchair accessible but they don't charge for wheelchair users. Best value for money is the year passport as it allows access to all 10 sites for a whole year, and if after that year you haven't had the time to see all of them you can get one free entry to that site.
  • We bought an annual pass so that we can visit more of the museums, but we’re coming back to Blists Hill tomorrow as we didn’t manage to get around the whole site! So many interesting things... the food in the Club Room was delicious and our waiter Mark was very friendly and good fun! and
