Quaint cottages, red-brick buildings, and rustic farmhouses are dotted throughout Blists Hill Victorian Town, an open-air museum recreating the conditions and lifestyle of a Victorian-era Shropshire town. Founded in 1973, the museum employs actors and tradespeople to staff the town's shops and to demonstrate trades that would have been prominent during that era. • It is a beautiful village the staff all dress up in the old victorian clothes and at christmas and halloween they make it look really great
  • Fabulous place! Big, great, you can spent here whole day and still you will have a felling that you didn't saw it all.
  • Unfortunately, the pub landlord left us with a bitter aftertaste. Stupid man. After arriving early in the day to allow sufficient time to explore this large site, and being welcomed by every shop-keeper in town, whilst visiting the hugely talented keepers of each premises, we wound up the day (with no food nor drink on the way round) at 3:31 at the pub. He wouldn't serve us, despite another customer and his wife and baby being seated beside the warm fireside (January 2016), grumbling that we were too late. The cloth was over the pumps. The place closes at 4:00 in winter, and we were being denied what we had been looking forward to all day. What a miserable barstool. I bet his beer was rubbish anyway, seeing so few customers were on set at this quiet time of year. He let the place down massively.
  • Just had the most amazing day! What a beautiful place amazing staff Great location you feel like you're walking onto a film set. Simply amazing and highly recommended PS make sure you get fish and chips!
  • Blists Hill gives a fantastic insight into what life was like in the Victorian Era. The live cast have excellent knowledge across all aspects of life, and were very friendly and easy to talk to. The main attractions include a bank, where you can convert current money into Victorian coinage, a chemists, a sweet shop stocked with old sweets and sugar mice, and functioning shops including a candle-maker and plaster-caster. I would definitely recommend this attraction, as it allows you to appreciate the hardships and nuances of life one hundred years ago, and to hear the facts 'straight from the horses mouth'. I would, however, suggest that visiting in the summer would be better, as certain attractions such as the train to the clay mine and the Victorian fairground were closed due to bad weather or it being winter.
