Blists Hill Victorian Town, Ironbridge

4.5
Quaint cottages, red-brick buildings, and rustic farmhouses are dotted throughout Blists Hill Victorian Town, an open-air museum recreating the conditions and lifestyle of a Victorian-era Shropshire town. Founded in 1973, the museum employs actors and tradespeople to staff the town's shops and to demonstrate trades that would have been prominent during that era. • Brilliant place to take the kids. The costumed staff are friendly, knowledgeable‚Äč and very happy to share what they know with you. The palace seems to change and grow each time we come back. The only small gripe is making you pay to park on top of the entry price. Oh and make sure you visit the bakery, fresh bread is so tasty.
  • A marvelous day out with the family. So many things to do and see and I thoroughly recommend visiting the bank in exchanging your money for Victorian pounds, shillings and pennys to spend in the shops for added experience. If you want to go home with a unique souvenir visit the photography studio to be dressed up as Victorians and have your picture taken for a small fee. Great fun and location.
  • Very well presented Victorian village with some original buildings and features plus some reconstructions. Lots of period businesses complete with a bank to exchange modern Money for old, that you can spend in the village. There's a pub, bakery, pie shop, sweet shop and more. Plenty of places to eat, but the queue at the fish and chip shop can get a bit long at busy times. Good day out for the family, even a bit educational too!
  • Great day out at Blists Hill. Loved the bakery and real fish and chips. The school lesson is must and a little scary. Don't forget to visit the pub and join in with the sing song :-) Easy to get to with clear signs. Good parking with reasonalble Pay and Display charges. For the best value get an annual passport and visit as many times as you like over 12 months.
  • Lovely place to visit. Fish and chips were amazing and had a drink in the pub. Regular demonstrations and staff dressed up in Victorian outfits. Will definitely visit again
