  • Don't read the reviews that have negative stuff. It is a really old house that is still lived in. Enjoy and soak up the atmosphere both inside and outside. The tea room, brewery and gift shop are all ...  more »

  • My beloved Douglas and I spent one lovely evening at the Traquair House and it could not have been more delightful. The housekeeper was so very helpful in showing us around the house. The fireplace in the lower drawing room was ready and waiting for us upon our arrival "home" after a lovely dinner at a pub in Innerleithen suggested to us by the housekeeper. Our room in a lovely lived in castle, exceeded all our expectations! To think we were able to stay in the same place where Mary Queen of Scots and her son King James VI once slept! Surreal! Many thanks for helping to make our first trip to Scotland soooo amazing! P.S. Breakfast was awesome too! Sincerely, Douglas and Pamela
  • Very interesting historic family house. Don't expect it to be pristinely maintained though, the visit is all the more interesting seeing the house as it is with some areas of disrepair. Take the time to watch the short film, listen to the narratives and read the info sheets and you will enjoy the experience much more. And don't forget to sample the beers brewed on site!
  • We were 3 weary travellers in need of food and drink in the late afternoon. We were pleasantly surprised by the attentiveness of the staff and the quality of the food and cask ales and would recommend this to anyone considering it. Our 14 year was particularly impressed by the burger with extra cheese, saying it was one of the best he'd ever eaten.
  • Attended medical fair. Lovely gardens and surroundings. Would definitely recommend for weddings and social functions.
  • Great morning spent wandering around the grounds. The maze is great fun.
