White Scar Cave, Ingleton

Cave
A network of caves White Scar Cave features one of the longest-known cave chambers in Britain. You can even see helictites, cave formations that grow spirally, sideways, and every which way. In addition to touring this fascinating underground world, a cafe and a gift shop are also present. Stop by the visitor’s center to see a large-scale plan of the cave system, historic photographs, and material about nearby places of interest. Pay special attention if you are the last of the day to tour the caves. It is rumored a disembodied, murmuring voice follows the last guide out of the cave. • White Scar Caves is hands on education. The tour guides are friendly and enthusiastic and the facts keep everyones attention. The trail is exciting and interesting even for the little ones. Lovely little tea room and gift shop. A Great place to visit whatever the weather. Although it's probably more enjoyable in the summer as you can take a picnic to the grass area and sit out and look across the Dales. Check before you go for tour times, it seems that are every half an hour and you get your tickets on entry. Make sure you wear decent shows and a coat though as it's chilly and a bit muddy down there.
  • An extremely interesting and informative tour of the caves. The guides know their material and make this an engaging tour throughout the 80-90 minutes. The site and caves have been set up to provide a safe environment for young and old but do be aware this is a strenuous walk that will also require you to crouch down low for short stretches.
  • We tried to get in here, but we had two dogs and weren't allowed in for safety reasons. So, if you want to go here, don't take the dogs. They were very nice about it, so we'll know for next time.
  • I only dropped the last star because it's not suitable for anyone with a back problem. Some serious crouching needed if your tall. Great visit though and the guide was great. Wear wellies and a waterproof!
  • One of the best UK caves to visit. I would give 5 stars if I can be left alone to take pictures. I understand the reason for a guide and even why they want every group to move smoothly trough the cave, but its a shame not to have time in place like this one. Apart from this - just fantastic! Our guide was brilliant, with great knowledge and nice sense of humor, and the caves just breath taking. I would definitively recommend this place to friends.
