Fleet Air Arm Museum, Ilchester

(4.6/5 based on 1,300+ reviews on the web)
Fleet Air Arm Museum devotes itself to the history of British naval aviation. The museum displays an extensive collection of military and civilian aircraft, engines, model aircraft, and paintings and drawings of aircraft. Located on the Yeovilton airfield, the museum simulates the experience of being on an aircraft carrier, and you can watch military aircraft take off and land. The site holds four large halls featuring numerous planes, from those of the early days of aeronautical experimentation to World War II fighter planes, including a kamikaze exhibit. Don't miss the museum's highlight--the Concorde 002 located in hall four. Put Fleet Air Arm Museum and other Yeovil attractions into our Yeovil vacation planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • This place was great! Spent a lot of time looking at all the planes! They do have a lot of them and with also interesting information. Concorde is still my favorite one though.. Food court was friendly but... It's museum food... ok if needed but, definitely not the reason why someone would go there..
  • Well laid out and very helpful staff. Some excellent information boards. No concessions for DDS Cards or veterans, just the usual coffin dodgers concessionary rate. Good visit, covered it all in an afternoon, unlike Bovington Tank Museum.
  • Excellent day out plenty to look at much bigger than it looks allow at least 3 to 4 hours for the visit restaurants food is ok helpful and informative staff and guides on the museum floor to explain item very knowledgeable a must see
  • A excellent look into naval history. Takes a few hours to walk around but very interesting. The ark royal aircraft carrier experience is well worth a look as with the Concorde 001.
  • A very enjoyable day for people of all ages. All under cover so great for rainy days. The SeaKing helicopter is definitely worth looking at.
