Fleet Air Arm Museum devotes itself to the history of British naval aviation. The museum displays an extensive collection of military and civilian aircraft, engines, model aircraft, and paintings and drawings of aircraft. Located on the Yeovilton airfield, the museum simulates the experience of being on an aircraft carrier, and you can watch military aircraft take off and land. The site holds four large halls featuring numerous planes, from those of the early days of aeronautical experimentation to World War II fighter planes, including a kamikaze exhibit. Don't miss the museum's highlight--the Concorde 002 located in hall four. Put Fleet Air Arm Museum and other Yeovil attractions into our Yeovil vacation planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • 'CONCORDE'. Is here under cover and you can walk in via the rear tail door, exiting by the front door...... You can also see 'WW1, WW2, Post War Aircraft and a few Rotor Craft'. (helicopters to normal people).............. The "AIR MUSEUM" features interactive "FLIGHT SIMULATORS" and a "VIEWING AREA" for incoming and out going, 'in service' "NAVAL AIRCRAFT", "ROTOR CRAFT". (helicopters)...... The "ON SITE SHOP" has a good selection for the enthusiast. (I purchased a full feature DVD of "CONCORDE")........."ON SITE REFRESHMENTS" and 'lovely meals' are available...... "THE YEOVILTON AIR SHOW" (this is rated as a '9' out of ten event), usually takes place during "JULY" and you can expect this to be an extra busy event as "DAWLISH" are taking a break from their "AIR SHOW" this year...........Special event days take place through out the year at.......... "YEOVILTON FLEET AIR ARM MUSEUM"............................
  • Fairly pricey entrance, needs more than half a day to get round it all. Some good history behind all the big cool planes. Can get inside a rescue helicopter walk along an aircraft carrier and under a concorde. Good to visit on a rainy day.
  • This museum charts Navy flying from it's first days to it's more recent endeavours. The well separated halls explain differing conflicts with very good displays of the many machines. There's also a good serviceman's perspective throughout history. I personally enjoy the Hellcat, Concorde, Women in Flight, and Sea King displays. There's enough to hold young children's attention for a good hour or two but no real play opportunities for under 5's.
  • 1st class experience and visit--as an ex RN- Ganges entrant in 1962--I served and lived on Ark Royal in 1960s + Bulwark and Eagle in the far east and confirm the "Carrier experience" is very authentic---well done and thankyou to all the staff.
  • Really interesting well planned museum to all things aviation. The carrier expericence was unexpected and a great addition to the museum!
