  • There is a lovely circular walk around the castle but not very long, not great for children to run around as there are some steep drops with no rails or precautions. The views from the top are lovely....  more »

  • Love it here. Beautiful views beautiful castle. Lots of seating while waking around. Watching the sunset on the hill is lovely. Take a coat it can get very breezy in the evenings.
  • Our nostalgic visit to Castle Hill to see Victoria Tower and the stunning views was incredible, the bonus today included the sun and lovely blue sky. The downside for this unique and beautiful place was all the litter bins where full and over flowing. The public had obviously tried their best to place litter in the receptacles provided, however if the council do not empty them, the litter then is blown around this iconic place, making it unkempt /untidy ,which takes away the beauty of the entire experience of visiting this historic site.
  • A vintage point for a distant view, stunning Criss-crossing hills at the backdrop, fresh air as the altitude is high up. Old standing 🏰 castle with lots of history to tell overlooking about 6 to seven major towns in the peak District. A place to be really.
  • This place has such wonderful 360 degree views and if you come when the tower is open you can also go to the top. A picnic in the summer with a couple of kites would be great. Owner is open Sat and Sun during summer. Bank Holidays and all days through the school holidays from 2nd week in April. Look at the Kirklees website
  • Great views. Can be very windy. Great place to find your peace and calm. Beware full driving up to the castle as the road is narrow and barley allows 2 way traffic
