  • What an exquisite place! Exceptional attention to detail in all aspects of the planting, with some very original and amusing combinations. The perfect size garden delights at every turn with a great variety from wooded paths, open lawns, lakes, swans - not forgetting the charming cafe with its delicious selection of salads and cakes. The only thing miss was a map or leaflet giving any information, but their website and a quick Google search provides most of the answers. Extraordinary to think that the IRA bombed this tranquil place in 1990, mistakenly thinking that Lord McAlpine was still living there (he'd moved out a few weeks before)!
  • A beautiful walled garden. It features a traditional mixed borders, vegetable patches and nice wood land walk. Lots of love been spent here. There always something to see, with lots of new features being added.
  • Small, but beautiful, little country garden with a wonderful cafe - though they do not have high chairs, so not massively welcoming for taking very little ones, though the staff were very nice and helpful. Most of the garden can be walked in under an hour, and is (more or less) stroller friendly.
  • Beautiful gardens (although in need of some attention when we visited) and a nice walk (especially if you visit the neighbouring woods as well), but not very interesting for young children.
  • The entry is free for National Trust members. The setting is quiet and idyllic, nicely curated gardens and a seating hall within the greenhouse that had grapevines all around. There is a little pond as well with 'swaslings'. The small cafe was good for salads, cakes and cream tea.
