#1 of 8 in Breweries & Distilleries in Oxfordshire
Brewing since 1849, Hook Norton Brewery is a proudly independent family owned, fifth generation brewery based in the heart of the Cotswold Hills that takes the very best of it’s handcrafted brewing heritage and combines it with a thoroughly modern approach, to create a range of cask, keg and bottled core ales, seasonal ales and one off unique brews.

Brewing on the same site for over a century and a half; still housed in the original buildings, Hook Norton invite you to come and experienced the unique sights, sounds and smells of a historic brewery at work and share in our passion and commitment to beer.

Keeping traditions alive we still use our shire horses Nelson and Major to carry out weekly dray deliveries to our local pubs in Hook Norton. We offer brewery tours and tutored tastings along with a brewery shop selling beer, artisan gifts and merchandise and a cafe serving homemade pies (Hooky Ale of course), pasties, bread, baguettes, cheese, teas and coffee’s.

Within the main brewery building we have our Micro Brewery which enables us to produce one off, limited edition crafty ales. 25 Barons - a hopless beer, Red Rye - fruity by nature - Playing Hooky - a golden, amber, hoppy brew to name but a few with more being produced each week.

Brewery tours start from the Visitors Centre and last approximately 2 hours. The first 1½ hours are spent around the brewery where you'll see our original steam engine, learn about our history and how we make our range of delicious beers.

  • Great tour of old Victorian Brewery. Nice interactive Tour guide Monty, and good to have a taste of a variety of beers at the end. Not a beer drinker myself but boyfriend enjoyed it and I bought some cider from shop after
  • Visited this brewery with 2 sisters and a brother-in-law. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit, even though I don't like beer. Our guide, Leon, was very good and explained the different processes really well. Thoroughly recommend.
  • One of the best brewery tours I've ever done! Scott was very informative and ebgageng throughout and the history is really interesting, the beer at the end of the tour helps too! I highly recommend this to any beer enthusiast's 👌🏻👍🏻👌🏻
  • Superb time had at the brewery today with my two daughters. Great food, topped off by guide Chris who gave us a fabulous tour of the old brewery. Hospitality second to none. Well done Hook Norton Brewery
  • Absolutely superb!! Booked the tour as a last minute birthday day out for my other half’s father and it was fantastic!! There’s truly something for everyone - with the gorgeous Victorian building, the exquisite origional machinery, the horses and the overall charisma of our tour guide Roz. Thoroughly thoroughly recommend for all (ages 18+) and it was incredibly good value. After the tour we wondered back to see more of the horses and then sat down for a delicious lunch in the “kitchen” - thoroughly recommend the pie!! Definitely worth a visit - and we’ll be back on a weekday to see things in action 🍻 cheers!
