  • At Natural Surroundings you will be able to spend a good couple of hours at least getting close to nature. There is a combination of woodland, meadow and riverbank where you can take a short circular walk through these habitats. During our visit today, we saw some harvest mice which are being cared for in an aquarium, some unusual looking friendly sheep, newts, frogs, red squirrels in their conservation area and so many different birds. The large bird hide near the river bank is a good place to spot kingfishers amongst other species. The owners hand out laminated information sheets to guide you around and there are information boards dotted around. There is a small shop and good cafe selling home made cakes and a limited but good quality lunch menu. You can watch the birds on the feeders while having a snack yourself. There is also a nice plant shop where the plants look healthy and reasonably priced. Access to the shop, plant shop and cafe are free of course but access beyond here cost just £3 per adult.
  • The staff were friendly, the cafe had some lovely soup, the garden was lovely. Clean toilets but no wifi. The drive from the main gate to the cafe alone was pretty special. I'm not sure this place is a destination in itself except for real naturists, but it's a great stopping point on a drive.
