  • Lovely castle ideal for picnic and easy to spend a couple of hours here. Area well kept and lovely lake with swans. Large ish carpark. No toilets.
  • I agree that it is a beautiful and very interesting, peaceful place to visit, but I was worried about the green algae almost totally covering the water. I visited recently and felt sorry for the problems this must cause the wildlife in the area. I hope something can be done about it. Joy Bate.
  • You get a sense of history past in the barron landscape around this place. To the think how big this place would of been if it wasn't for the civil war
  • excellent place for an historic afternoon, very informative signs giving an insight about the workings of the castle. Agree with previous post about better route signs.
  • An impressive castle and later gatehouse with a long history. Well worth a visit to this out of the way gem. A ruin, but still gives an insight into how it looked and was laid out.
