An impressive castle and later gatehouse with a long history. Well worth a visit to this out of the way gem. A ruin, but still gives an insight into how it looked and was laid out.
Awesome free afternoon out on a dry day. Loads of exploring to be done. Educational too!. Completely free.
Very interesting place but very poorly signposted. Sat nav said the post code did not even exist. Once you get there its very interesting. Was still being lived in until just over 100 years ago. It is actually a large castlellated house rather than a castle but a good story attached. Well worth Finding it.
It's a pretty walk from Baconsthorpe, there not much left of the old Castle, but take a picnic and it's a lovely day.
Great for a picnic but no facilities and and a lot of nettles
