4.6/5 based on 95+ reviews on the web
Helston Museum was established in 1949 and is housed in a large listed building, formerly the Butter and Egg Market, Cattle Market and Drill Hall in the centre of Helston. The deceptively small entrance leads into five display halls on two floors, bursting with exhibits reflecting the history of Helston and the surrounding area. With one of the best social history, photograph and costume collections in the South West, Helston museum is a fascinating and FREE experience, where you are guaranteed a warm welcome from staff and volunteers.

  • Great place for dome helston heritage! Well worth the free entry!
  • The museum looked very nice, but was badly let down by the miserable old bag who turned us away for being a whole 2 minutes past the last entry time, because we "couldn't possibly see all the exhibits, it being such a large building". Honestly you'd have thougt it was the Louvre. I'd like to think we'd go back another day, but if our welcome is going to be as frosty, I don't think we'll bother.
  • A very pleasant little museum of local domestic life through the centuries. Free entry, just leave a donation.
  • Interesting museum well worth a visit
