  • If you get a chance to go on a storytelling walk round the farmyard and outbuildings, do it. It’s free and all four of us - 2 boys aged under 11 - were mesmerised. Really informative talk but also fun...  more »

  • Beautiful setting for this ancient group of buildings. Excellent (if muddy!) walk up Godolphin hill for stunning views. Had the best carrot cake ever in the café! Volunteers were friendly and knowledgeable. A great visit!
  • The National Trust house was rescued by a sensitive adaptation for use as a rental holiday property. You can visit it occasionally between lets and it is very luxurious. The garden is wonderfully understated and enjoyable throughout the year. Outside the ticketed garden is a terrific walk up Godolphin Hill with amazing views from the top but you need sensible footwear and clothing to suit the weather.
  • An odd place. House is a little disappointing and not very large with very very few original features. The development of the dwelling over the years with various additions and demolitions over time is relatively interesting however. Grounds were lovely and very much the highlight. Mainly worth visiting in the summer I feel!
  • First impressions were that all seemed a bit run down.....then you realise that all is Tudor. Put that in context and you are looking at the oldest house of its type in England. Amazing. Mostly staffed by volunteers, but their depth of knowledge is amazing and their love for the place profound. Do seek out the head Gardner, she is a font of knowledge, and is lovingly restoring a garden like no other.
  • A great gardens to spend a few hours. The house and associated rooms which were open did not have much info as to their use. So in a lot of instances we were left guessing. The gardens were very nice however and we enjoyed walking round them.
