This was a really fascinating and peaceful walk with interesting temples and great views of the Abbey beneath. Well worth visiting.

The archetypal romantic ruin. Lovely setting and extensive ruins. Visitor Centre and museum still smell of fresh paint. Friendly staff. A bit boring for kids.
Lovely ruins nestled in the valley. A great place to exlore
Truly, a must visit if you like ruins / monuments. The site is very extensive and in such a fabulous state of repair. You get a real sense of what life would have been like for you monks who lived here down the ages. The audio tour is well worth the additional expense as it really explains well what each part of the complex was used for. Fantastic!
We visited Helmsley castle and then here. Loved them both! This is a must see for the York area. Absolutely jaw dropping! Audio tour is great and it was easy to imagine 600 monks working here. See it please!!! You will be amazed. We were there on drizzly September afternoon and had it most to ourself. They are upgrading visitor center. Hope it doesn't get too fancy.
