Very friendly and informative reception, the castle is in the "Nowhere" and the way there is a single track road, 30 km from Hawick, but good passable. Rewards you get from a distinctive architecture, finally I know no other building of this time with an H plan. But for Maria - fans an absolute "must"! A great location for a day out despite the dark history of the castle. We had a great time exploring the castle and grounds and lucked out for a beautiful day.
Very atmospheric, bleak and quite intact.
