Hastings Fishermen's Museum, Hastings

(4.6/5 based on 700+ reviews on the web)
Hastings Fishermen's Museum resides in the original “Fisherman’s Church” of Hastings--the town changed it in the 1950s to commemorate the long maritime history of the area. Nestled inside the simple mission church, the museum is filled with photos and artifacts of the sea, including shells, nets, and life-size boat models. Stop and watch the video about the trials and dangers of the fisherman’s life. The small museum is volunteer-run, free, and built entirely on the pride of the town’s seafaring history. • It's free so pop in and have a look. Leave a couple of quid in the box as you leave. Lots of interesting things to see
  • This is a fantastic place to visit on a Sunday afternoon
  • The kids loved roaming around this small museum. They took to the high seas on the fishing boat inside and took in all the exhibits on show. Great little museum.
  • The whole family enjoy it every time we visit
  • Great, characterful museum about the local fishing community - it's very small (you couldn't be here for more than hour) but free and especially good for kids
