Hastings Fishermen's Museum, Hastings
(4.6/5 based on 650+ reviews on the web)
Hastings Fishermen's Museum resides in the original “Fisherman’s Church” of Hastings--the town changed it in the 1950s to commemorate the long maritime history of the area. Nestled inside the simple mission church, the museum is filled with photos and artifacts of the sea, including shells, nets, and life-size boat models. Stop and watch the video about the trials and dangers of the fisherman’s life. The small museum is volunteer-run, free, and built entirely on the pride of the town’s seafaring history. • Went in to pass some time before eating nearby. Lots more than we expected. Interesting history of fishing in the area and the personalities behind it. And a fishing boat in there. Well worth a visit.
  • This was a nice museum with plenty of interesting pictures showing fishing in the area. There is also a small fishing boat on display. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
  • Very friendly receptionist and nice little souvenirs. Got some local history a ship in which young children can pretend to be pirates.

  • It's free so pop in and have a look. Leave a couple of quid in the box as you leave. Lots of interesting things to see
  • This is a fantastic place to visit on a Sunday afternoon
  • The kids loved roaming around this small museum. They took to the high seas on the fishing boat inside and took in all the exhibits on show. Great little museum.
  • The whole family enjoy it every time we visit
  • Great, characterful museum about the local fishing community - it's very small (you couldn't be here for more than hour) but free and especially good for kids
