  • Excellent, we were shown around the historic castle by two very informative ladies. Thank you ladies. There is a walk around the lake. The village it's self is kept beautiful, and all building s are of Yorkshire stone. There is a wonderful tea room and small shops. Ripley ice-cream is delicious. And a public house, the Boars Head Inn, which I believe is really good. An elderly couple were staying there and they have been coming for 35 yrs. That in itself must be a good recommendation.
  • We absolutely adored this place! Luckily got to visit on a super sunny Friday 20th April, a spring heatwave day ☀️ The tearoom is beautiful, grounds are stunning, and special mention needs to be made of the most friendly & helpful gift shop Lady i think our 4 year old has ever had the pleasure to meet! He adored her, so much so by the end of the day she had become his 'new best friend' & he wanted to go home with her! To the beautiful Lady with the short brown hair, you absolutely made little Harry's day, thank you so much xxx
  • Absolutely gorgeous location. Perfect for all the family and for friends. Really recommend walking from bilton down the cycle/bridlepath as it's beautiful and so easy to walk down. The Boars Head pub is perfect for sunny days. Great day out all round!
  • Great little castle-cum-manor-cum-country house. Good walks locally and a fascinating village, supposedly modelled by the landowner on one in Lorraine. Charming church - the fact that one of my great-great grandmothers was christened there in 1822 doesn't sway me in the slightest.
  • Can get busy on a weekend, guided tours of the castle are a must as every room has a story. Parents with well behaved children are welcome. There is a walk around the gardens and the lake with a park in the woods.
