  • We didn’t go in the house as it was closed but we went for a lovely walk around the grounds. Afterwards we had coffee and cake in the courtyard. Quite expensive if you’re not a National Trust member. ...  more »

  • Beautiful National Trust venue with a gorgeous collection of over 40 pianos ranging from Baroque harpsichords and clavichords to pianos owned and played by Chopin, Mahler and Elgar (among other). Lovely rooms and gardens and a nice cafe.
  • Loses one star right away for no indoor photography ... apparently "Because the family still live here !" , tell you what people , if you want privacy why not "Don't" give your house to the National Trust then carry on living in it ! ... just an idea ! House is full of an expensive and impressive collection of old pianos, and similar instruments. Presentation is a strange mixture , as it's lived in you see a strange mix of old and new , like the flat screen TV amongst the classic oil paintings , and games of operation and monopoly hidden under priceless French dressers. As the house is still habited you are only allowed around certain parts of the house (all on the ground floor).... left the property feeling it could have been so much better.
  • A very well maintained, beautiful landscape. We just visited the gardens because the House was closed for the day so we had a nice stroll around. Free entry for National Trust members and £7 for non-member adults. This is a lovely place to bring a picnic and enjoy the sunshine. Or head to the cafe if you didn't bring any food because they have plenty of tasty things to offer.
  • Excellent property with a great collection of famous old pianos and harpsichords. Well worth a visit and great if you can be there when there is some one playing the pianos and harpsichords....that was amazing.
  • My two year old loved the tree house and woods and especially the donkeys. The house is closed on a Friday when I visited, but the tea rooms and shop were still open.
