The pool is amazing for swimming, go when the lane ropes are out for a good hard swim. More fun and less crowded than Surrey sports parks 50m sessions when it's not uncommon to have 15 per lane. Never... read more »
Huge pool, chilly but fine once you get in.It is lovely to swim outside. I went on an extremely hot day and in the school holiday so lots of kids. Changing rooms and toilets could do with a facelift.
Mostly known for an occasionally refreshing open air pool, but also has a rather nice gym attached. Music selection at said gym is occasionally lacking (in a constant repetition of Nickelback kind of way) but otherwise well maintained and air conditioned.
Gorgeous pool, bags of space in the grounds to enjoy the sun. Changing facilities and showers are past their best, but it doesn't matter.
Dead animal in the pool! My 2 year old touched it, yuk! Generally the site is very nice, leafy, spacious and green but when we visited in the summer there was a dead rodent stuck inside the pool that had most likely been trapped there for days. They are meant to check for these things daily but hadn't. I encouraged my children to hold onto the edge of the pool (as you do) and when i looked down his hand was brushing over a dead animal. The staff while generally pleasant were useless in this situation (bar one). The management were rude and even less helpful. They were short staffed, under stocked at the kiosk, their backpump was faulty and the manager was rude, stressed, unhelpful and so inconsiderate it begs belief. One member of staff wanted to serve coffee at the kiosk before removing the dead animal from the pool where children were happily playing!.. She said "point me in the right direction i'll get it in a minute!!" Yes, the Lido is a nice place to visit on a hot summer day just hope you don't come into contact with dead animals in the pool or need staff assistance for anything other than handing over your money to enter. The customer service at Freedom Leisure was a joke.
Incredible place to relax and chill out. The gym has been my home for the past few years with some great characters. Highly recommend it!
Unfortunately a negative experience in a nice environment. The pool seemed very cold, so cold that not only were my 2 children shivering and going blue in places but they also heard the Penguins complain about it being to cold for them!! Joking aside, £25 badly spent, the pool is apparently checked every 2 hours and is 24 deg C but I would argue that the temperature may be correct where pumped out but by the time it gets to the edges of the Olympic sized pool that the 24 deg C has significantly dropped. There was some wind there at the time which I suspect would contribute to the cooling but we had travelled from Canterbury to Air Hop and Swim, thankfully the Air Hop was better due to it being what was expected and well run. To end that, there was no hot food at all, bizarre in a school holiday, another reason to pack up and move on much earlier than expected.
