  • We stubbled in by chance as the husband had never been and he is a massive film buff. Explained where the opening scene was to a certain film. To our delight the cathedral was offering the rare opport...  read more »
  • Forget the splendid Gothic cathedrals in England. We're just on another level. Which is unfortunate, because instead of Guildford is a beautiful town of the English countryside, full of very picturesque corners and youth. A beautiful Cathedral would play out as the "icing on the cake". But perhaps it was this lack to push, at the beginning of ' 900, towards the decision to build an impressive cathedral. However the result is not as hoped. The structure is huge. Also too. You can see almost the entire city, with a special view from the Castle, from which the noontime triumph on the hill opposite and left the city in all its grandeur. Yes, left. Is this the impression it gives me every time I go to Guildford. Perhaps because of its size, or because to stand so high above the town, or maybe because it seems out of context, but it has a certain something troubling, and I'm not surprised that you have the set of demonic horror movie The Omen. Closely loses all its charm. A large structure of red bricks without decorations or architectural details. And even inside, nothing memorable. If you talk to the English in many love this church. And it is strange, because it is true that we are used well, but even the British don't mess around, especially in terms of cathedrals! The good news is that there are guides in Italian!

  • The Cathedral is large, from here there is a beautiful view of the entire Valley. The bad thing was in renovation. Very friendly staff that work there. They let us visit it. One of the sides of the Hall of the altar (left side) there is a picture that has diagrams of all the cathedrals of that County and the surrounding area. It is interesting to find that is close to where one is staying.

  • A stunning piece of architecture that pops up on the skyline of most popular Guildford locations. The Christmas ceremony really brings the community together and provides a lot of fun for the family.
  • this is the most weird cathedral i have ever seen in europe....looks like a tombstone.
  • Very interesting place. Full of history. Great views
  • Great architecture :)
  • A rather schizophrenic place. The outside is depressingly brick-clad in a way that reminded me of nothing so much as Mortlake Crematorium - not a good feel. There's a well-thought-of café, The Refectory, next to the cathedral building, but I've not tried that yet. Inside, though, is a wholly different matter. Soaring white stone in neo-Norman style, beautifully laid out, combining simplicity with elegance. Displays of local artists' work make it a lot less sterile than it might otherwise have been. Do go visit. Other reviews here allude to clamping problems, but I didn't encounter that, myself.
