I did the taster course, it was a brilliant experience and you can just focus on climbing and technique. Definitely recommend it! They also do a beginners course where they teach you all the skills you need to be safe. The only thing that puts me off taking this hobby further is the entry fee which is the same regardless of whether you're there for 15 mins or 8 hours.
My home away from home. Time to break down all those stresses...
The most friendly climbing centre I've been to. Really nice place to hang out
My group's private taster session was overpriced and slow. Spending half an hour on knots, to not even be qualified, is a waste of the taster of climbing that could be summarized as "if you're interested, go to YouTube to learn the knots". A group of 4 is apparently too large to go in the main bouldering area (which fits way more than 4 people) and the youth bouldering area was in use so we were told we couldn't boulder at all (really???). Each person in my group went up 5 routes each...not worth the hour and a half or the 34 pounds. NO climbing technique was taught, NO advancement in difficulty was suggested. Only 1 auto belay in the gym, which was literally always in use (should be a sign to someone to get more). The takeaway was that the facility looks nice, but the lessons are a complete waste. You are better off perfecting your knots at home, then showing up and saying you are qualified for experience entry rates. With more auto belays and allowing first timers to try bouldering, they may be able to be more attractive to beginners instead of forcing them into an off-putting lesson.
Good facility and level of safety, however we had a two instructors one of which, (Carol) lacked enthusiasm and was very disrespectful. She made the whole experience a negative one, although the climbing itself was enjoyable.
