  • Good points are that this is a peaceful place with birds singing and fish idling in the pools. Rhododendrons when in bloom are fantastic. However this place feels like a work in progress. Parking is in a muddy field. Paths feel unfinished and rough. Way to many 'no entry signs' to interesting looking parts and you can walk the entire sight in 15 mins. The size wouldn't be an issue if it was 2 quid to get in but it's 7.50 a pop! Why is it 7.50 for a 15 min walk yet a coffee at the entrance is cheap at a quid? I would rather they ripped off the lazy people eating cake at the tea house and made this place 3 pound a person. Yes it's pretty but at this price point it's over faster than a fun size Mars bar.
  • If you like rhododendrons, azealias and magnolias this garden is a must visit. At its peak (April--June) it is simply stunning. I have grown and enjoyed these acid loving plants for many years now and have a deep appreciation of them. 'The Himalayan Garden' is exceptional and also quite young unlike some of the more established gardens throughout the UK which were laid down in Victorian times. I note that one reviewer said that the garden was very much a work in progress and I would echo that. However, rather than this detracting from the overall experience in my opinion it actually enhances a visit. All gardens are 'works in progress' and it is the gradual and progressive plantings which enable the visitor to see different varieties at different stages of growth. I would also heartily recommend the plant shop where you can buy beautiful specimens of the plants you see in the garden at very reasonable prices. This is a great garden for lovers of 'Rhodies'. It's only a shame that it is only open for a small window in the year although it does open for a short spell in Oct./Nov for what I'm sure will be a spectacular Autumnal display. But then again that is part of the attraction---beautiful things don't last forever, until they come around next year that is. My wife and I visited on Friday 10th June and we'll be back next Spring and this time I'll make sure I have more boot space in my car for more purchases!
  • Beautiful scenery, great cafe and the kids loved it
  • Great gardens ,trees ,shrubs, water features etc before the average formal gardens
  • Lovely gardens, well worth a visit.
