This place well over lost its true utility but remains nevertheless a good attraction at your entry in Scotland. While the shops are numerous, but nobody is forcing you to enter. Local and artisanal products are available. Visit to the small museum by a guide is really very friendly since you join a little sketch of marriage in a good mood. Small collection of carriages at the end of the Museum.

What a special place to have our wedding. Gretna Green is a lovely little village steeped in history. Don't visit expecting lots to do as it's more about quality that's quantity. If you have interest ...  more »

  • It's difficult to describe a place which has existed for more than 100 years and has served as a place for young men and women eloping to get married. Today, people come here for its historical value and choose to marry here. As expected there is a gift shop where you can search and shop for every possible memorabilia associated with Gretna Green. You can even buy bottles of whisky if you so wish. There's also a few cafes. This is usually a place where most coaches/buses travelling into Scotland usually take a pit-stop. Scotland's economy benefits.
  • Entertaining place with nice shops for all "things" Scottish. The Whisky Shop is especially good. However the prices are slightly higher than usual, but worth a visit.
  • Worth a visit if you're in the area. It's a lot bigger than you'd expect once you're in there & it tells some interesting stories.
  • You can't come to Scotland without visiting Gretna, even if it is busy and over commercialised, I love stopping here and the shopping is pretty good too
  • Just Married!!!!!!! Lovely place for a quiet private and peaceful wee ceremony and staff were very lovely on the day but I had some issues with the wedding planning side and the last in the Registrars reception was rather rude hence the 3 stars but for the service I'd give 5
