Famous Blacksmiths Shop, Gretna Green

Explore one of Scotland's earliest visitor attractions, Famous Blacksmiths Shop. Hailed as "The Gateway to Scotland" and now a thriving visitor center, the shop offers a range of unusual displays, quirky fixtures, and top brands. Also keep an eye out for the Gretna Green Collection. Browse the unusual products from independent designers and manufacturers from all over the UK and overseas. You might catch a glimpse of a newly married couple at the famous black and white building, a historic marriage house popular with eloping couples since 1754. Don’t miss the Courtship Maze, sculpture garden, and the anvil. A children's play area and parking lot are available. • Entertaining place with nice shops for all "things" Scottish. The Whisky Shop is especially good as is the Food Hall. However the prices are slightly higher than usual, but worth a visit. We've been a few times now and enjoyed each one.
  • Interesting history but quite commercial. The actual blacksmith shop is full of interesting examples of elopement. Carriages and anvils. Reasonable cost to get in. Parking free but downside in my view is all the tourists shops.
  • Friendly and staff very welcoming. Good choice of food and a bar if you are not Driving.Whiskey samples are plentiful. A good place to relax and rest to and from Scotland.
  • An Amazing Place to get Married and the Staff are exceptional and nothing is beyond them. My Youngest son took ill just as Family Photos were being taken and Staff immediately helped and stayed with myself and son for a while until he recovered. The whole place makes a memorable place to visit and Marry. Wish I'd got Married here 16yr ago, I got Married across the road at Gretna Hall Hotel and that was memorable too 😊
  • Very interesting attraction with some good explanations of the history behind Gretna. Doesn't take long to walk around the museum but there's a couple of shops and a maze as well, so its definitely worth an afternoon visit.
