Time and Tide Museum, Great Yarmouth
(4.6/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web)
Time and Tide Museum is centered around Great Yarmouth's rich maritime and fishing heritage, mainly focusing on the history of Yarmouth and the herring curing works. As Norfolk's third largest museum, there is something for everyone here. The museum offers various exhibitions, including a typical row, a type of narrow street from 1913. There is also a Yarmouth fishing wharf from the 1950s as well as hands-on displays, films, audio guides, and children's activities. You can even take the wheel of a steam drifter. When you need rest, relax in the spacious courtyard beneath a canopy of sails, surrounded by historic fishing boats. • Pleasantly surprised by this place. Popped along on a rainy day with low expectations but ended up spending a good couple of hours here. Interesting little museum which is well laid out and nicely presented. Interesting museum about local history featuring exhibits relating to the towns fishing heritage, lifeboats and even the whaling industry. Very informative and interesting. Several interactive exhibits that the children really liked.
  • A really interesting visit ( Even though I was born in Lowestoft from a fishing family !! ) Will come again.
  • Interesting museum with a number of very interesting displays.
  • Great Museum with lots of things to do and great events.
  • I would put five stars but it smells a bit in one part of the building otherwise it's great :)
