The Pleasure Beach, Great Yarmouth

3.7
#2 of 8 in Theme Parks in Norfolk
First opened in 1909, The Pleasure Beach is a beachside amusement park with over 30 rides. New rides are added every other year, while some historic rides that have been around since the park's opening are still in operation. Take a ride on a roller coaster built in 1932, or enjoy some of the more leisurely heritage attractions, such as the carousel and the scenic railway. Visit the Pleasure Beach Gardens to relax at Sara's Tearooms, a mini-golf course, and the Segway race track. Refresh yourself at the ice cream parlor or on-site cafe. Admission to the park is always free, but you pay for the rides individually. If you plan to spend the entire day, save money by purchasing a wristband. • Good fun for younger kids, not great value for money. If you want value buy a wrist band from inside rather than tokens for each ride. There are a variety of rides but they length of each ride is quite short. With my daughter we only managed 5 circuits of the dodgems before the turn ended. The water shoot ride is the best attraction here. In fact we had as much fun dodging the water splashing onto the path, as we did riding the shoot! The park is well worth a visit with the short queues would go for wrist bands for the kids next time.
  • Fairly limited number of rides and general appearance is fairly run down. Closer to fun fair than theme park and definitely not similar to the Pleasure Beach in Blackpool. Unlimited ride wrist bands are fairly good value as long as you do most rides more than once. Can't fault the staff, they were all friendly and pleasant. Car park is really convenient (directly opposite) and is £3.20 for four hours (which should be ample). The pay and display machines are coin operated and no alternative means of payment is available.
  • At 52 years old I never tire of this place, been comming since a child on family trips out on the old rover tickets on the trains. I get such a kick out of seeing me children and the grandchildren enjoying the rides that I did, and I still do the thrill of the roller coaster (I still duck at the first bit) the new rides are not for me but the smiles and screaming from the riders is thrilling in itself. A great day out ,we do the park about 4 times in the season.
  • We had a good day out, Spencer (5) kept asking if he could come back. The wristbands are decent value, there's plenty to keep you interested for half a day. The roller coaster was a highlight, and most of the rides were good fun. It feels a bit tired at times but it's well worth a visit. Be advised: you WILL get wet on the log flume :-)
  • We have come to pleasure beach everytime we have come to Great Yarmouth. Kids love it, which means I love it... friendly staff, fun rides. Reason for 4 starts and not 5 is that some rides are quite expensive, and so are the wrist bands, so it is easy to spend a little fortune here.
