The Pleasure Beach, Great Yarmouth

3.7
#2 of 8 in Theme Parks in Norfolk
First opened in 1909, The Pleasure Beach is a beachside amusement park with over 30 rides. New rides are added every other year, while some historic rides that have been around since the park's opening are still in operation. Take a ride on a roller coaster built in 1932, or enjoy some of the more leisurely heritage attractions, such as the carousel and the scenic railway. Visit the Pleasure Beach Gardens to relax at Sara's Tearooms, a mini-golf course, and the Segway race track. Refresh yourself at the ice cream parlor or on-site cafe. Admission to the park is always free, but you pay for the rides individually. If you plan to spend the entire day, save money by purchasing a wristband. • A thrill-a-minute venue for all the family. Ride by tokens or wristbands or just sit back and watch the thrill-seekers scream and shout their approval on state-of-the-art rides. No charge for spectators - the park is open to all to come and go as you please. Food and drink kiosks and restaurants cater for the hungry and thirsty. Ice cream, waffles, candy floss, toffee apples, popcorn too. All the fun of the fair. Slot machine and video game arcades. Old-fashioned "cocks and horses" "gallopers" whatever you called them when you were young. Dodgems, Roller Coaster, oh and public toilets and the park in general which are kept perfectly clean and tidy by diligent staff, thank goodness...and PLEASE THANK THEM TOO!
  • Went on a Saturday in October and it was very quite. Literally no wait for rides. At First wrist bands seemed very expensive to go on rides unlimited, however we made the mistake of buying tokens before seeing what rides there were. There are loads of rides suitable for young children. My daughter was 3 and under 1m tall and could go on most providing an adult could be with her. And this is what made it expensive. Most toddler rides are 2 tokens a go, however both child and parent have to pay. Tokens are £1 each meaning a ride on flying dumbo is £4 If you have to be with them A toddler and parent wrist band was £25 which now looking back would have been a better investment. The 1932 wooden roller coaster which has a driver on board is amazing and i coukdnt believe my 3 year old loved it but it does cost 4 tokens per person. This meant for 2 parents and a toddler that one ride cost £12 worth of tokens. Best thing to do is walk around to see if there are rides which you want to do and if so work out the cheaper option.
  • Always loved the pleasure beach. Been coming here since I was a kid. Great variety of young kids and teenage/adult rides. Has a small arcade as well. Also has some nice cafés.
  • Always love going to Pleasure Beach. So many rides, something for everyone whether you're a thrill seeker or prefer something a bit more gentle.  There are places to eat, drink and sit down for a rest after all the rides and queueing! Great for kids, families, teens and those of us who have decided they don't fancy growing up just yet!  Ample parking and great value. I do feel as a 25 year old, taking children would make a lot more use of the park but still fun none the less!
  • Spent the best part of seven hours here with a six year-old and a three year-old which shows how good it was. Bought wristbands online and reckon to have used double the amount it would have cost in tokens so excellent value. Staff all over the park were really friendly and helpful. You must ride the rollercoaster if only for its uniqueness - the brakeman in action is fascinating to watch .
