Merrivale Model VIllage, Great Yarmouth

Take time to discover the details and hidden gems of the village; explore its nooks and crannies, meet its inhabitants, and watch out for one of the village’s 28 different types of trains whizzing around. Keep your eyes peeled for some of Merrivale’s most unusual characters, such as the bank robber and even the streaker. As well as the model village, there’s an Old Penny Arcade to enjoy with a wide range of vintage slot machines dating from the 20's to the 60's. Extremely well thought out attraction. Many working displays kept the children amused as did the crazy golf. Refreshment area very clean, good value and beautifully laid out with many hanging baskets.  more »

Not the cheapest activity at over £25 for 2 adults and a child, but worth a visit. If you have lots of time take cash to play in the penny arcade and allow time to complete the crazy golf. Included is...  more »

  • We love Merrivale. Always something new to see. The gardens are beautiful. My grandson had great fun with the interactive buttons. Lunch in the cafe was lovely. A little bit of a wait but the food was excellent and reasonable.
  • A charming model village set in lovely and well maintained gardens. The outdoor setting makes it more of an attraction for a sunny day, but it was still a nice place to be on the overcast spring day of my visit. Dogs are allowed, so you can bring your four-legged friends in for a look around, too. The models vary in quality and many suffer from being exposed to the elements, but a keen attention to detail and a quirky sense of humour means there is plenty to see in this little village. The entry fee does feel a little steep, and while it's a nice place to go if you're nearby, I wouldn't say it's worth going out of your way for unless you've got other plans in the area.
  • Spent most of day here..my kids loved it and got a lolly for filling in quiz sheet. Played crazy golf a few times..it's free. Gift shop and cafe and old penny amusement arcade all part of same business, next-door to each other. Staff were tending to the plants etc. Park in a side street near by...5 mins walk at most.... to save car park charges...
  • We thought it seemed overpriced at first, however upon entry it's clear that its excellent value for money, the gardens are really well maintained and the model scenes are fantastic with a lot of attention to detail. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is because a number of the models are faded/outdated and have stickers peeling off. I fully appreciate that being exposed to the weather this will happen but I do think some of the worst examples (DHL vans amongst others) should be taken off display and either refurbished or replaced. The walk around layout is great, the fish pond is lovely and I like how the exit leads you out through a reasonably priced gift shop, an old penny arcade, a cafe and courtyard with 20p childrens rides! Overall the place makes for a nice few hours, especially if you get a bit of sun!
  • It was amazing how much detail they have put into it all. We all had a good day apart from the weather. Well worth the visit and the money.
