  • EXCELLENT ARTS CINEMA which shows a variety of unusual films from around the world, plus an entertaining selection of more mainstream movies, too. Normally has three or four films each week; current releases, often foreign language, art house and just plain unusual films which don't get shown in multiplexes. The staff are also very happy to accept suggestions if there's something you'd specifically like to see. They have an extended range of films during school holidays with plenty of matinees for the kids and movies for the mature audience in the evenings. Tickets reasonably priced (around £6) and can be prebooked with your choice of seating. Seats are on the small side, and theatre can be chilly in winter (so wear a woolly!). Great cafe for drinks, coffees, lunch and dinner; worth booking a table for meals. The Plough also hosts live entertainment, music, comedians, workshops etc. Definitely worth a visit. UPDATE Aug17: new cafe layout much improved with individual chairs instead of big squashy sofas; a bit less relaxing but you're more likely to find a seat at busy times. Online booking now easily done via their website. More films are being shown late afternoon / early evening (starts from 4pm to 6pm) which is wonderful. Much easier to come to these than the later time-slot. Also, forgot to mention the interesting artworks always on display in the cafe. A lovely showcase, where the featured artist changes frequently. 9/10
  • A wonderful, old style venue, friendly and snug, where you can carry a pint glass to your seat and quaff it at your leisure while watching the show, no mean looking bouncers to terrorise the punters and plenty of artwork to make it a rewarding experience!
  • Nice location for a provincial theatre. Decent café, good food and a nice place to meet up or go to the cinema.
  • For a little theatre it gets some amazing acts. Friendly staff. Good coffee. Interesting exhibitions. A proper community arts centre.
  • Fantastic salsa band! Pity more folks weren't there to enjoy the fabulous music!
