Must do visit in Grasmere. The gingerbread is the best we ever had. It is a tiny store...recommend visitors pick an off-peak time to visit, and buy extra.

Must-visit super-quaint, and historic little place. I always pop in when I'm in the area. Do read the posters about the history of the shop and the lady who started it, although unfortunately due to its size it's difficult to hang around and it's usually an in-and-out visit, especially in peak season. The gingerbread is of course really tasty - but I'd suggest not over-buying because it's best when it's very fresh and only a day or two old (then it starts going hard). They also have a pretty good selection of other confectionery, much of it ginger flavoured.
Lovely tiny place! No space to hang around! Usually long queues so it's worth checking out what you need as you get in the door so you can sort it once at the front of the queue.
If the gorgeous aroma of baking gingerbread doesn't get you in then your first taste will, and you'll be forever be coming back for more. No bad thing! A tiny little shop and sometimes the queues are horrendous, but have a stroll around the picturesque village until they go down and you won't be disappointed. It's quite simply the most delicious, gorgeous, moreish gingerbread there has ever been and likely ever will be!
One of the smallest shops I've ever seen but the minute you walk through the door the smell of gingerbread hits you in the face. The gingerbread it's self is one of the nicest I've ever tried and finding out you can order online is a bonus
A wonderful traditional shop, the queues alone trek you all you need to know! Please don't be put off by them though, you never have to wait for long.
