  • The museum is situated in the restored docks area, and provides welcome culture in this area as a counterpoint to the shopping and restaurants. Only £4 to get in and it takes an hour or two to wander ...  more »

  • Visited with an ex Gloster and family and variousvdisplays enjoyed by adults and children alike. Though staff member disagreed with our ex soldier on certain points which was almost laughable as he had served 25 years...
  • Surprisingly quite a lot to see and even the young kids found stuff to keep them occupied. Reasonably priced too especially if combined with a pass to the other local museums
  • Tucked away in the corner of the docks, on the opposite side from the Quays shopping centre, is this hidden gem of a museum. Beautifully presented and stuffed with information and memorabilia, it's easy to lose hours in here. Apart from specific facts about the Gloucestershire Regiment, there's plenty of general explanatory information about the various conflicts. I was particularly moved by the WW1 section that brought home to me the appalling conditions endured by the troops in the trenches. With a sprinkling of 'hands on' exhibits, notably the Gatling gun diorama, a small but well stocked play area and interactive screens, there's lots to interest older kids. Then there's the dress up section: try on adult sized tunics and hats from regimental uniforms going back a couple of centuries. Great fun and educational. The shop has a small but relevant range of products with a nice selection at 'pocket money' prices. The staff are friendly, very helpful and knowledgeable with a genuine passion for the subject. Thoroughly recommended.
  • Excellent history of the Gloucestershire soilders, could do with a bit more interaction.
  • Very good museum to visit. Well recommended
