It was a larger and more interesting museum than I had expected it to be with lots of really interesting artifacts spanning history from the Tudor times to almost the present day. My six year old love...  more »

The museum was really interesting and depending on how much you care to read you could spend a good couple of hours there. I loved the information about things that had been found in and around Glouce...  more »

  • A wealth of exhibits and information about the everyday life of Gloucester folk through the centuries. The building itself is an exhibit with beautiful exposed beams and wonky, creaking floors. There's even a section of rare Tudor wall painting. Highlights are the Tudor bedroom, a 50's / 60's lounge and kitchen and wartime area complete with recruiting forms to fill out. Lots for kids to do: colouring, a toy area with puppet theatre to try out, dressing up clothes in at at least two places and there's a paper treasure hunt usually changed monthly. Our 7 year old loves it and we visit often. Check out the calendar of events as there's always something going on. Some events are chargeable but others, like the apple day in Autumn, are free. Nice café and an old fashioned sweet shop in the rear courtyard (phone to check opening times for both). The small gift shop in the entrance has items both reasonably priced and relevant to the museum and its exhibits. The £5 entry fee buys an annual pass for both this and the main Gloucester Museum in town. Bargain.
  • Lots of interesting artefacts relating to local history. Most displays would appeal to different age groups. Some good workshops and events throughout the year. Some staff could learn more about Gloucester to assist visitors.
  • Lovely muesum lots to see and things for the children to do. My kids love it.
  • A great little museum celebrating Gloucester life. We loved the dressing up that was available around the museum and the wedding dress section. Very interesting to read the family stories behind the dresses. I wish there were more.
  • Great place to go with kids, good location, easy parking. Great entertainment for the whole family.
