Gloucester Docks, Gloucester

4.3
Tour Gloucester Docks to examine the historical shipping industry of southwest England. Situated on the Severn River, the still-functioning Victorian port houses several museums and exhibits for the whole family. Spend the afternoon touring the dock’s machinery and warehouses while learning the importance of the industry to the surrounding area. End the afternoon with a visit to the model boat display, or a tour of the port’s brewery. Take a leisure cruise up the river to see the expansive canal and more of the Gloucester area. Our Gloucester trip planner makes visiting Gloucester Docks and other Gloucester attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • An oasis in the desert! Good waterside ambience and restoration of the old. Most of central Gloucester still has a long way to go to be safe and pleasurable both by day and by night. But there are tons and tons of watering holes here, of every type and taste although limited things to do.
  • Lovely place to visit at any time of the year I expect. Was made better that I visited on a beautiful sunny bank holiday Monday. Very clean and welcoming. Plenty of nice places to eat and drink and next to the Outlet Shopping Centre and town centre. Definitely worth a visit.
  • Gloucester doesn't have a great reputation s a tourist destination...but it does have 2 great reasons to put it on your UK travel itinerary. Firstly, the Cathedral...a magnificent building...inside and out...check out the cloistered featured in a Harry Potter film.....secondly don't miss Gloucester docks...plenty to do and see.
  • This is a fun place for local and international visitors. There's plenty of shopping, great pubs with waterfront patios (decks), and bistros. It's fascinating to look at all the long boats, which you can hire to travel the waterways, or you can take a short boat. Plus, I love the antiques Center that has a huge range of items and hidden treasures to discover.
  • Interesting place. Activity on the water. Boats and other things to watch. Good water side food and drink places. Relaxing time to let the world pass by.
