Gloucester Docks, Gloucester

4.3
Tour Gloucester Docks to examine the historical shipping industry of southwest England. Situated on the Severn River, the still-functioning Victorian port houses several museums and exhibits for the whole family. Spend the afternoon touring the dock’s machinery and warehouses while learning the importance of the industry to the surrounding area. End the afternoon with a visit to the model boat display, or a tour of the port’s brewery. Take a leisure cruise up the river to see the expansive canal and more of the Gloucester area. • I love it here. It clean, modern with all well known brand shops. There are some excellent bargains to be had. Love next clearance and the m&s outlet. There’s a good Wetherspoons for refreshments to r...  more »

  • Visited the dock after a 30 year break, pleased to find they are well maintained and have been further developed. Lots of eating place to choose from to suit all tastes. A great place to stroll by the river see boats and old cranes. A great bonus was to find a shopping outlet at Gloucester Quays....
  • Interesting to read all of the information boards around the docks. Lots of maps to help you find your way around. Loads of bars and restaurants if you want them, although for me this detracted rather than improved the area Big shopping complex Gloucester Quays next to the docks. Parking good although a bit expensive!
  • With The Queys retail centre, pubs and cinema, Gloucester Docks now has much more to offer. It has museums and history for the day time, shopping and some great places to eat and drink.
  • Lovely place to visit. Especially the outlet stores. Great bargains to be had.
  • Great to see that the docks have been regenerated and brought back to life. It might not be every ones cup of tea, but I think it has improved the whole area. Parking, for disabled, is not too easy but that could easily be addressed if they put their mind to it. Some nice eateries are here and development nearby will improve it further. Nice that they have regenerated builds rather then just rip them down !!
