Neist Point, Glendale

(1,100+ reviews on the web)
Geologic Formation
A single, unassuming lane leads you to one of Scotland’s most popular viewpoints. Regular visitors insist that Neist Point, the westerly most point on the Isle of Skye, is never the same place from day to day, hour to hour. Don’t forget a camera with long-range capabilities. Whales, porpoises, dolphins, and sharks also frequently visit. Bring a jacket, a hat, and walking shoes. Be sure to take it slowly. Several steep inclines require a little extra time and attention. Put Neist Point on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Isle of Skye vacation builder.

  • The really short distance from Dunvegan to the parking lot of Neist Point has it, because it is very narrow, poorly maintained and full of potholes. In the tiny parking lot stands a cottage, not built: no Café, no toilets. From then on, a hike partly with Trppen, partly on concrete slabs, and partly on the usual paths is ca 50 minutes up to the lighthouse. The scenery is picturesque, the views terrific. Wear hiking boots! No sneakers. It winds constantly and here usual rain calls for waterproof clothing. Unfortunately an ugly dump of fully certified lie furniture things leaves at the lighthouse left the beauty and romance. Is to be hoped that the Scots ever taking action!

  • It's worth the drive to get here. Do make it out to the lighthouse....steps are steep though. Still...magical place for a picnic :)  more »
