Glencoe, Glencoe
(4.7/5 based on 800+ reviews on the web)
Find yourself at the lowest point of a valley with green, wild, rocky mountains looming overhead at Glencoe. This U-shaped glen was formed in the last Ice Age by a glacier, leaving behind a 16 km (10 mi) long, 700 m (0.4 mi) wide stretch of scenic beauty. The serene landscape is ideal for a countryside hike, with many different tails varying in difficulty to choose from. Stop by the visitor center to learn more about the natural surroundings; on-site amenities include a small museum, restaurant, and cafe, where you can warm up with a coffee after a nice hike. • Road to Loch Ness, we went through Glencoe, the (excellent) guide describes it, and then we confirm it, as a narrow valley that we approach appears surrounded by steep mountains and is considered as one of the most spectacular and beautiful in Scotland. According to our guide, the Glencoe name means "Valley of the tears", as a reference to the massacre of Glencoe. This massacre took place between the clan Campbell and clan MacDonal (land owners). Beautiful place!

  • The Glencoe Valley is a real favorite. You will fall in love. And the weather makes it a place very changing levels of his colors that will never show you the same facet. Spectacular landscapes breathtaking of the colors worthy of a painting while being a hostile and desert-like region. At the foot of beautiful hikes await you. By car you'll multiply the photo stops. My advice is to take a full day for this site. And do not hesitate to take the single track road which follows the River Glen Etive, it is even more impressive and at the end of the road you will not regret!
