Glencoe, Glencoe

4.9
Find yourself at the lowest point of a valley with green, wild, rocky mountains looming overhead at Glencoe. This U-shaped glen was formed in the last Ice Age by a glacier, leaving behind a 16 km (10 mi) long, 700 m (0.4 mi) wide stretch of scenic beauty. The serene landscape is ideal for a countryside hike, with many different tails varying in difficulty to choose from. Stop by the visitor center to learn more about the natural surroundings; on-site amenities include a small museum, restaurant, and cafe, where you can warm up with a coffee after a nice hike. • We stopped here on our way to Glasgow. WOW! Amazing! I was part of a 10 day UK tour and I will definitely be back to visit Scotland. The Scottish Highlands are amazing! They filmed scenes for Skyfall ...  more »

  • If you go to Glencoe, you can not forget to pass by here, it's awesome. We did route by Three Sisters and it was amazing. They are a few streets of infarction, in my life I saw so beautiful thing.

  • This is an awe-inspiring walk, whatever the weather (been in sunshine, rain, and snow), and well worth a visit for anyone with a passing interest in walking. The car park is fairly small and often full of tour buses. Get there early and you'll get a space. The path to the hidden valley is clear, and you'll soon leave the road and tourists behind! The ascent requires navigation of several rocks to begin with (there is a handy rope at the point), before winding through trees, then arriving at the valley path. The path is narrow, and the drops are steep! Take great care with children and dogs! The trail leads up alongside a stream, which can be a torrent after rain or in winter, but is fairly gentle in dry weather. If you plan on crossing the river, try a visit in warmer weather! Prepare yourself for views of seclusion and isolation! Watch out for the biting insects, they're pretty large here...
  • Absolutely awesome road to drive.... Is like a rally track, however you aren't going to want to speed through this as the scenery is truly spectacular (Is the best road I have ever driven) no potholes plenty of parking spaces for taking pictures, admiring the scenery and possibly a cheeky picnic... would drive this road everyday if u could
  • I just love Scotland. Angus Coaches Travel from Needham Market Nr Stowmarket Ipswich Suffolk I travel with. A very friendly run company.
  • While on a four-day road trip through the Scottish Highlands, on what began as a rainy day, I took advantage of a break in the weather and snapped the accompanying image below of a shaft of sunlight illuminating the hollow between the peaks of the Glen Coe expanses. It had rained all morning, but just before reaching this spot, the sun had broken through the clouds, highlighting not only the vibrant green of the grass but also creating a mist between the top of the peaks that provided a mystical appearance.
  • This must be the most beautiful place in Scotland and possibly in the whole of the UK.
