Glencoe, Glencoe

4.8
Find yourself at the lowest point of a valley with green, wild, rocky mountains looming overhead at Glencoe. This U-shaped glen was formed in the last Ice Age by a glacier, leaving behind a 16 km (10 mi) long, 700 m (0.4 mi) wide stretch of scenic beauty. The serene landscape is ideal for a countryside hike, with many different tails varying in difficulty to choose from. Stop by the visitor center to learn more about the natural surroundings; on-site amenities include a small museum, restaurant, and cafe, where you can warm up with a coffee after a nice hike. • A truly stunning glen. Can there be a more rewarding road to drive along? Driving through the glen took me ages as I couldn't resist pulling over to take photographs.
  • Incredible drive if you can see something. Almost worth driving through there and back again if you have nothing pressing to do and the whether is good.
  • The Three Sisters! Lovely view !
  • Went here in the winter and there was so much snow! Also saw some lovely reindeer! :)
  • While on a four-day road trip through the Scottish Highlands, on what began as a rainy day, my wife took advantage of a break in the weather and snapped this image of a shaft of sunlight illuminating the hollow between the Glen Coe peaks. It had rained all morning, and just before reaching this spot, the sun had broken through the clouds, highlighting not only the vibrant green of the grass … but also creating a mist between the top of the mountains that gave them a mystical appearance.
