#6 of 29 in Shopping in Glasgow
Silverburn is an 'out of town' shopping centre located on Barrhead Road in Pollok, Glasgow, Scotland. The development replaces the 75 acre Pollok centre with a brand new 1500000sqft shopping centre, anchored by Tesco, Next, Marks & Spencer and Debenhams. The completed Silverburn opened for the first time on Thursday 25 October 2007, although at the time the largest Scottish Tesco Extra opened on July 10, 2006 at the site, replacing the Tesco store in the old Pollok Centre. The Centre houses 95 shopping units and 14 restaurants and cafes.Developed by Retail Property Holdings Ltd, it is one of the largest shopping centres in the UK.The Centre is Glasgow's fifth out of town shopping centre. Catering for a target population from across Scotland, the Centre arguably benefits Ayrshire, especially with the completion of the M77 to Kilmarnock. The developers aimed to attract shoppers from nearby Newton Mearns, Clarkston, Giffnock and Barrhead as well as the towns and villages in Ayrshire. In 2015, The Centre expanded to include a Cineworld cinema and 9 restaurants including Zizzi & Pizza Express which opened in 2014.

Has a more upmarket feel than Braehead with plenty of shops and an ever increasing amount of eating places with the cinema now established. Parking is the only real issue as so busy and can often find...  more »

Stopped in this Starbucks for a quick coffee , usual Starbucks friendly staff and tidy coffee shop, what I liked about this one was the upstairs seating looking out over the shopping centre.  more »

  • Lots of variety and easy to navigate. Seems huge when you first go but quickly shrinks in size to something you can get your head around. :)
  • The best features of Silverburn for me has to be the choice of food and the Cinema. There is a wide variety of restaurants and i recommend trying either tortilla for a great burrito or Cosmo for a great tasting and fresh buffet, probably the best buffet about!. the big Screen at the cinema is great with good seats.
  • Great shopping centre. Plenty of good variety shops and food courts. Always got something good on worth a viewing last year was the coca cola Christmas trucks.
  • A lot of shops and restaurants. Good cinema. Crowded open car park. Better to used closed one.
  • Easy free parking, so much under one roof - clothes, food, play areas for kids, even a beauty spa. Could do with free trolleys to move kids & shopping around. Staff always friendly and helpful. Breastfeeding rooms available for anyone who doesn't want to feed in a cafe or needs a wee quiet break though I enjoy sitting with baby on one of many comfy seating areas in centre of mall and people watching. :)

Where to stay in Glasgow

Glasgow's revitalized city center offers outstanding accommodations--along with some of the finest shopping outside London. Considered one of the finest Victorian cities in Britain, Glasgow is renowned for its centrally located hotels. Spacious rooms overlook the historical city center, and award-winning restaurants and trendy cafes occupy the lower levels. Farther away from the central areas, which are often noisy and crowded with tourists, is a world of small B&Bs and guesthouses. These considerably cheaper options offer quality lodging in quiet neighborhoods less frequented by weekend revelers and rowdy nightlife lovers.
