Where to stay in Glasgow

Glasgow's revitalized city center offers outstanding accommodations--along with some of the finest shopping outside London. Considered one of the finest Victorian cities in Britain, Glasgow is renowned for its centrally located hotels. Spacious rooms overlook the historical city center, and award-winning restaurants and trendy cafes occupy the lower levels. Farther away from the central areas, which are often noisy and crowded with tourists, is a world of small B&Bs and guesthouses. These considerably cheaper options offer quality lodging in quiet neighborhoods less frequented by weekend revelers and rowdy nightlife lovers.

  • Mackintosh fans should definitely visit, but it would be interesting to others. Some interactive exhibits for children. Free.  more »
  • We went to see a building designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, and the school museum aspect was a welcome bonus. The building design is wonderful with fabulous windows - with the original plans and ...  more »

  • Wonderful This place works on at least two distinct levels First, it's an excellent school museum Second and more importantly, it's an original Charles Rene McIntosh building. Breathtaking especially when you consider that this really was a functioning state school. Seeing is believing Entrance is free Opposite Shields Rd Subway station and car park (adjacent to M8, M74, M77)
  • A great free attraction in Glasgow. They have weekly showings of classic movies in their cosy theater and the building is beautiful. Great for all ages but especially good for kids.
  • A very nice place where to pass few hours with the family. A bit out of the normal path, but with a great fish restaurant nearby ;)
  • One Best museums in Glasow the mixture of mackintosh and the school shows how teaching was done in early 1900s. The classic mackintosh design is just stunning to see in original context. The Museum is free entry to all visitors if your on vacation itw worth jumping on subway to Sheilds road directy opposite the museum or you can take local buses 89 or 90 both stop nearby.
  • Interesting Rennie Mackintosh deigned building . The exterior is amazing , but the inside is designed around the needs of the schoolroom, and less attractive.
