Pollok Country Park, Glasgow

4.7
#2 of 23 in Parks in Glasgow
Escape from the city at Pollok Country Park, a 146-hectare (360-acre) expanse of well-manicured green space, previously named the Best Park in Europe. Stretch your legs on miles of trails, and choose a quiet picnic spot to forget about urban life. Before the building of a highway in 1994, the park was the largest urban green space in Europe. Visit shaggy Scottish Highland cattle, and view the eclectic antique and art collection of shipping magnate William Burrell. If you want to go faster than your own two feet can carry you, the park has also opened three mountain-biking routes. • The park is three miles from the centre of Glasgow and just yards from the main motorway through the city, so there is no excuse for not visiting. Great place for a casual walk, a rather energetic jog...  more »
  • Good for walking and easily accessible from most of Glasgow. There is also a rather nice house here.  more »
  • It is a metropolitan park where there is a beautiful mansion and unosjardines from another world, further you can walk throughout the Park and learn about the Scottish cows.

  • A very nice park with lots of walkways for a leisurely stroll. The park is very close to a railway station and has connectivity to Glasgow Central. As the park is huge, cycling would help cover and see more areas within the park. It is really wonderful to have this vast amount of greenery within the city. The park has good restaurants too.
  • It's amazing park. If you want to be alone you can find a perfect place to hide. If you have children there is park for them to have fun. Everything is green and beatufil in there. There is a little lake in the park and you can pay a visit at the Scottish cows as well.😀The flower gardens are breathtaking. I spent a long time in them and took a sit on the bench and enjoyed being there. I'll make sure you enjoy it if you take your time to take a visit in this park. And you want to be there again and again.
  • Excellent place for recreation whether walking, jogging, or cycling. A piece of the country in the city. Historical attraction of Pollok House is within the park. Tearoom available. Also the world famous Burrell Collection is housed in a separate museum venue. One of the best parks in Glasgow. If not Scotland.
  • Wonderful park to stroll through. Highland cattle, horses Pollok house, miss the burrel collection terribly. Only 4 years to wait
  • Lovely park for families and a good cycling tracks Highland cows heavy horses and also horse riding lessons play area for kids and the Burwell collection

Where to stay in Glasgow

Glasgow's revitalized city center offers outstanding accommodations--along with some of the finest shopping outside London. Considered one of the finest Victorian cities in Britain, Glasgow is renowned for its centrally located hotels. Spacious rooms overlook the historical city center, and award-winning restaurants and trendy cafes occupy the lower levels. Farther away from the central areas, which are often noisy and crowded with tourists, is a world of small B&Bs and guesthouses. These considerably cheaper options offer quality lodging in quiet neighborhoods less frequented by weekend revelers and rowdy nightlife lovers.
