Pollok Country Park, Glasgow

Categories: Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.7/5 based on 750+ reviews on the web
Escape from the city at Pollok Country Park, a 146-hectare (360-acre) expanse of well-manicured green space, previously named the Best Park in Europe. Stretch your legs on miles of trails, and choose a quiet picnic spot to forget about urban life. Before the building of a highway in 1994, the park was the largest urban green space in Europe. Visit shaggy Scottish Highland cattle, and view the eclectic antique and art collection of shipping magnate William Burrell. If you want to go faster than your own two feet can carry you, the park has also opened three mountain-biking routes. • Excellent park. Brilliant for dogs and some friendly people. But it hosts too many events that churn up the grass and paths which make it really muddy for the regulars who use it. It's a no go area at weekends. You've got jogging sessions Trenches events And now in your face adventure events. It's not a park anymore it's a disgrace
  • Smashing country park that makes for a great afternoon out. Popular with families. Also popular for cycling and jogging. Some mountain bike tracks there too. Close to the Burrell Collection which makes for a good destination if the weather isn't great.
  • Great house, good staff. The cafe offers fresh food and is usually busy. The surrounding gardens and park are great. There's horses to be seen as well. Easter time is fun as well as there's often some activities on.
  • One of the best parks with lots of features. The cycle paths through the North Wood are ideal for families. The park is as big as it looks. A lot of space has been removed from public use.
  • Beautiful park with nice grounds for walking or sports. The museum is also very cool.
