  • We visited and took a tour of this library which we organized in advance. I'd recommend doing this as it gets busy. Sadly some of the places to poke our nose were closed due to damage.  more »

  • Great library. The best I have been. This library has a great collection of books and the study room is big and very silent, so you can get the necessary concentration. In addition to this, the architecture of the building is really beautiful and you can amuse yourself admiring the beauty of this landmark of Glasgow. In sum, whether you are a user or a tourist, this library really worths a visit. One of my favourites place of Glasgow.
  • Great library with multiple storeys. The children reading area is a bit on the small side but it's great in terms of the activities such as bounce and rhythm. Two baby changing areas are available for use and there are lifts inside the building too. Plenty of comfortable seating throughout ground floor and the cafe is nice too.
  • I love this place. Good coffee and peaceful place. Always lots going on to keep you amused
  • I admire the patience and dedication of the staff that helped me with my search for historic books on very obscure and specific topics. The sort of information that I managed to extract from the Mitchell I may not have been able to get even from the internet. That must count for something.
  • Great place to go to study. Wi-Fi is superb and the retro carpets are legendary. Place of quiet away from the city

Where to stay in Glasgow

Glasgow's revitalized city center offers outstanding accommodations--along with some of the finest shopping outside London. Considered one of the finest Victorian cities in Britain, Glasgow is renowned for its centrally located hotels. Spacious rooms overlook the historical city center, and award-winning restaurants and trendy cafes occupy the lower levels. Farther away from the central areas, which are often noisy and crowded with tourists, is a world of small B&Bs and guesthouses. These considerably cheaper options offer quality lodging in quiet neighborhoods less frequented by weekend revelers and rowdy nightlife lovers.
