Mackintosh House, Glasgow

(750+ reviews on the web)
Historic Site Tourist Spot
Part of the Hunterian Art Gallery, Mackintosh House recreates the interior of the house of Scottish architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868-1928). The original house was completely destroyed to make room for the expanding Glasgow University. However, the University later went to great lengths to re-create the house using modern materials. The house features original woodwork from Mackintosh’s home as well as carefully reassembled interiors, which exemplify Macintosh’s austere style. To visit, you must take a guided tour available every thirty minutes. • It's OK - the exhibits could be a little richer
  • Not Rennie Macintoshes original house but a pitch perfect recreation of all the important internal features.
  • Iconic museum
