4.5
#3 of 13 in Neighborhoods in Scotland
A section of the city known for its bohemian culture and celebrity guests, Glasgow West End is an active neighborhood for both residents and visitors. Take a stroll down Byres Road to visit the area's main attractions, including the Glasgow Botanic Gardens, the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Center, and myriad bars, boutiques, clubs, and restaurants. The University of Glasgow is located here, marked by the famous spire of its main building, designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott. Where to stay in Glasgow

Glasgow's revitalized city center offers outstanding accommodations--along with some of the finest shopping outside London. Considered one of the finest Victorian cities in Britain, Glasgow is renowned for its centrally located hotels. Spacious rooms overlook the historical city center, and award-winning restaurants and trendy cafes occupy the lower levels. Farther away from the central areas, which are often noisy and crowded with tourists, is a world of small B&Bs and guesthouses. These considerably cheaper options offer quality lodging in quiet neighborhoods less frequented by weekend revelers and rowdy nightlife lovers.
