  • One of my favourite places in town for beer and good food. There is always plenty of space to seat, which I really appreciate on Fridays and Saturdays. My favourite dishes are duck with lentils and bacon. Incredibly tasty. However, they used to give a full thigh and leg of duck whereas now (November 2017) they’ve changed to other parts of the duck. As a result the portion may be slightly smaller than before. I also order coconut and passion fruit rice pudding, which I love. Apart from the food this place is well-known for the beers on tap. There are so many, perhaps about 20 beers on tap. It is such an incredible place to taste Scotland in the 21st Century! I have been there many times and will repeat again... and again. • Superb selection of cask, keg, bottled and canned beer ales and lagers. Good wholesome pub grub. Well priced beers and food. No rip off. Beer hall bench and table decor. Not to everyones idea of comfort. But the beer and food make up for the decor
  • The surroundings are a bit basic and the service could be a bit quicker. However; the choice of cask and keg beers is fantastic and the quality is spot on. As for the food, would be difficult to find a better burger anywhere in Glasgow. And the chips are sublime. Will be back.
  • I had the sour cherry beer and the steak. Everything was delicious. Service could have been a little better, my food got dropped off and I didn't see the server again until I needed to pay.
  • Really really fabulous. A def change of style and approach to anything else I've come across in either the city or the westend. Make the effort and go. If your at Strathclyde University or work in the Royal, it's just down the hill, on the left just before you reach the old Great Eastern Hotel.

Where to stay in Glasgow

Glasgow's revitalized city center offers outstanding accommodations--along with some of the finest shopping outside London. Considered one of the finest Victorian cities in Britain, Glasgow is renowned for its centrally located hotels. Spacious rooms overlook the historical city center, and award-winning restaurants and trendy cafes occupy the lower levels. Farther away from the central areas, which are often noisy and crowded with tourists, is a world of small B&Bs and guesthouses. These considerably cheaper options offer quality lodging in quiet neighborhoods less frequented by weekend revelers and rowdy nightlife lovers.
